Day At The Zoo Layout

Happy Wednesday! I am so excited to share this layout that I made. This is another layout that I made of our day at the zoo. I'm really excited to share this layout because we were finally able to get a good picture of one of the lions at the zoo. I don't think we have ever been able to get a decent photograph of the lions. Usually, the lions are asleep or in a spot that is really hard to photograph.

I used this 8x8 scrapbook kit from me & my BIG ideas. Unfortunately, it looks like it's discontinued, but you may be able to find it on eBay and Amazon. Once I selected which patterned paper I wanted to use, I adhered it to my cardstock. Then I added a 6x6 textured cardstock on top of the patterned paper. I adhered my picture onto the cardstock and then began to embellish the page. I added the dimensional stickers and then I stamped the word "ROAR" onto the cardstock. Then I used my Distress Markers to color in the stamped word. I added a few enamel dots and then another sticker that says "A Day At The Zoo". I added some journaling onto one of the dimensional stickers and then added the date on the bottom right of the layout.

Below are some close ups of the layout.

Supplies Used:
  • 8x8 me & my Big ideas Scrapbook kit - Zoo
  • Enamel dots
  • Sharpie Fine Point Pen
  • Stamp Set
  • Tim Holtz Distress Markers
  • Tombow Xtreme Adhesive Glue Runner
  • Cardstock
Do you use any scrapbooking kits?

How I'm Staying Organized in 2017

Hello! Today I'm going to share how I plan to stay organized in 2017. I went to my local Michaels during the holiday season and was able to get a new Recollections planner that was on sale. This planner is similar to the Erin Condren Life Planner. I used to use the Erin Condren planner for years and really loved it. Last year, I decided to use the Happy Planner and now I decided to use the Recollections planner.

This year, I am going to use just a few supplies with my planner. I am currently using two of the Me & My Big Ideas Happy Planner value packs of stickers (Mom Life and Seasonal). I absolutely love the value packs of stickers. They are functional and are a great way to also decorate your planner. I may have to also purchase the Fitness value pack of stickers.

I am also going to use my Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens as well as my black Sharpie pen. I love my Staedtler pens and love that there various colors. The pens come in a case and there is even a built in stand which I love. The built in stand makes it easy to slide the pens in and out of the case.

So there you have it...this is how I plan to stay organized this year. I'm ready to take on this year and I am glad that I have a few things to help me along the way.

How do you plan to stay organized in 2017?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

Handmade Greeting Cards

Hello! I recently made a bunch of Fall and Thank You cards. The "Thank You" cards are geared towards teachers and school bus drivers. You may have seen the cards on my Instagram, but I thought I would share them here as well.

I used a bunch of embellishments from a previous Freckled Fawn kit as well as some patterned paper in my stash. How cute is that Owl? If you click on the picture, you can see that the enamel dots have glitter in them.

I also used some Freckled Fawn embellishments and patterned paper on this card. I really like the colors on this card. The striped alpha letters are so adorable and add just a bit of dimension.

School has already started where I live so I was inspired to make a batch of cards for teachers and school bus drivers. I used my Hero Arts sentiment stamp set and some chipboard stickers from Me & My Big Ideas. I just simply placed the sticker in the center and then stamped the sentiment beneath it.

I made a couple of sets of "Thank You" cards for teachers...it's perfect for those who have various teachers to thank. I love the apple stickers. They even have glitter on them, but the glitter does not come off!

You can find all of these cards in my shop.

Cards for Friends and Family

Hello! I have been busy making a lot of cards these past few weeks. Most of the cards that I have been making are Valentine's Day cards, but I did manage to make a batch of non-Valentine's Day cards.

A few days ago, I made four cards using items from Dear Lizzy, American Crafts, and Me & My Big Ideas. Most of the cards that I made can be sent to friends, but a couple could also be sent to family members as well.

I think the "With Love" card is my favorite out of the bunch. I love the chipboard mason jar and flowers. I wanted to use the enamel dots in the same size, but ran out. So I decided to use smaller enamel dots on the top right side and some medium size enamel dots on the lower left side.

I was originally going to just stick the square embellishment onto the card, but worried that it would look too plain. I ended up asking my husband if he liked the card with or without the doily and he said he liked it with the doily. So I ended up adhering the doily onto the card.

I really love the stitched tag on this card. One of these days, I'm going to try and stitch on my crafts, but for now I am loving the tags that I got in a mason jar from Tuesday Morning. I added some foam flowers and butterflies to complete the card.

I used another foam butterfly on this card as well as some embellishments from a Me & My Big Ideas embellishment pack. I really love the "Hello friend" layered embellishment.

I can't wait to mail these cards off to a couple of friends and family. Hopefully, they will love it.

Think Happy Thoughts Card

Hello! Today, I want to share another card that I made and submitted to Paper Issues Fall Crop on their Facebook page, Paper Issues {Friends & Fans}. I submitted this card to A Flair for Buttons challenge. For this challenge, participants were asked to use flair on any project.

To make this card, I grabbed a sheet from Heidi Swapp's September Skies 6x6 paper pad and adhered it to the card base. Then I found an adorable pocket page card from Me & My Big Ideas and adhered it onto the card. I added a badge from Studio Calico. The badge says "It's gonna be ok". The pocket page and the sheet from the paper pad goes so well together. I love how colorful it is.

Halloween Project Life Cards

Hey! Hey! I seriously love Fall and have been in the Halloween spirit. I have been making lots of Fall and Halloween projects left and right. Today, I want to share a few Halloween Project Life cards that I made.

To make my Halloween Project Life cards, I used some Halloween themed Project Life cards from Me & My Big Ideas and some left over skull, black cat, and pumpkin "confetti". I used some pop dots to add some dimension. I thought about adding some enamel dots and maybe some washi tape or stickers, but decided not to. I'm afraid if I add anything else, it will make the Project Life pages a bit too bulky and the cards might not even fit in the pocket due to the bulk if I add anything else.

I'm not sure why the manufacturers of the embellishments decided to call them confetti because they are little too big to be confetti. However, they are so cute and I'm glad that I still had some more left. Last year, I blogged about how I used the confetti in my art journal. You can check that out here.

Supplies Used:

  • Me & My Big Ideas Specialty Cards-Halloween
  • Skull, Black Cat, and Pumpkin "confetti"
Are you in the Halloween spirit? Have you been working on some Fall or Halloween projects?

First Day of School Layout and a Card

Hello! Happy Saturday! School may have started last month, but I'm still working on some layouts and other projects that are school related. Today, I want to share a layout I made that documents my son's first day of school. I also made a card as well that can be given to a teacher.

I used Me and My Big Ideas products for my layout. I love their new school collection and knew that they would be perfect for documenting both of my boys' first day of school. I love the glitter embellishments, the globe, and the mini crayons...so cute! And how adorable is my son! You may have noticed that I blurred out his teacher's name.

I really think that the glitter embellishments helps make the page "pop". I love how colorful the embellishments are.

I love that the embellishment packs have these little flags that you can put the date in. That globe is adorable.

I made this card using mainly Me and My Big Ideas embellishments as well, but I did use some Studio Calico gems as well. First, I used a wood apple shape and used a pencil to trace the shape onto my card. Then I put the embellishments inside the traced area. Then I used my Sharpie brush tip marker and went over the outline. I think I should have used the marker as the second step, but I kept changing my mind on whether or not to use the marker. While using the marker, I accidentally made a small mark on one of the gems.

Me & My Big Ideas Handmade Cards

Hello there! Today I'm sharing two more cards that I made using Me & My Big Ideas (MAMBI) products. I'm seriously obsessed with Halloween (my favorite holiday!) and so many of my friends are pregnant or have given birth recently so it only made sense that I would make Halloween and baby boy cards.

I love that you can use MAMBI, Project Life, and other brands of journaling cards for things other than Project Life albums. I use my cards for my album, handmade cards, mini dashboards, etc. There are just so many different uses for these cards.

So here are the two cards that I made with my MAMBI cards and elements...

Halloween Card

I use two MAMBI Pocket Pages cards (Months of the Year). I also used some Soft Spoken Halloween embellishments as well. I just layered the cards and added the embellishments on top. Super simple and really cute!

Baby Boy Card

I used one of the MAMBI Embellished Cards. These cards are seriously awesome! It really helps when you do not have enough time to make cards or work on layouts since the cards are already embellished. All I had to do was just glue the embellished card onto the base. Then I added some of the Recollections enamel dots. Again super simple and easy to make.

What have you made today? Feel free to share!

Until next time...

Me & My Big Ideas (MAMBI) Cards

Hello! Hello! Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday. I've been having a great day today with my family. Today is one my year wedding anniversary and I still can't believe that a year has already passed since the wedding. I feel so lucky to have my husband. He is just the best.

A while ago, I won a MAMBI giveaway from Ali Edwards that included a whole bunch of the themed cards, embellished and specialty cards. Plus I also received some page protectors which was awesome because I had just started Project Life about a month before winning. However, lately I have been purchasing quite a few Me & My Big Ideas (MAMBI) products that I did not receive in the giveaway. Michael's has a lot of their stuff on clearance so I've been purchasing several of the themed packs, specialty cards, and embellished cards. I plan to use most of the cards that I purchased to make handmade cards.

I actually took some time today and created two cards.

There are so many people that I know that are having babies especially baby boys. I plan to make some more baby boy cards. I used Pebbles Basics Cardmaking Pad 1 and a Mambi embellished card (Baby Boy). It was super simple to make, but I do plan on fixing the string...I want it to come down a bit.

I also made this Halloween card. Can you tell that I'm super excited for Fall especially Halloween? I seriously can't wait. For this Halloween card, I used Pebbles Basics Cardmaking Pad 2 and a Mambi Soft Spoken Halloween embellishment.

I will definitely be making some more cards and will post some more up when I get them done.

How's your Sunday? What have you been making?

Until next time...
