10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday! It's finally May! I'm so excited. It's going to be a busy month with school events for the boys and work stuff for me. Although I've been counting down the days until summer break since last month, now I can really say that the countdown has really begun.

1. After getting some big news and having to make a big decision, I started to feel a bit anxious. I've been considering all my options and, thankfully, was able to have a really refreshing and much-needed conversation. The conversation and information I received definitely eased a lot of my concerns, and now I feel a little more at ease. I'm not ready to share the big news or my decision just yet, but I will soon.

2. Get Messy May has officially started. Get Messy May is a free month-long daily(ish) art challenge. Each daily prompt is hosted by a different artist. I know I won't complete each prompt every day, but I hope to work on them throughout the month. I think I may just pick the ones that catch my attention.

3. "When you have nothing left to give, let yourself receive." - Nicola Jane Hobbs

4. I received my copy of Beth Ann Fennelly's Heating & Cooling. I can't wait to dive into this book. I really am intrigued by the micro-memoir format.

5. On Repeat: Bayou by Mountains of the Moon

6. My youngest nephew is turning five, and I can't believe how time is flying by. It's been so fun watching him grow. My baby niece is also growing, and I'm excited to share that she is starting to say a few words.

7. Hallie Bateman's latest legal pad newsletter. I love this hand-drawn newsletter format.

8. On the wishlist: Susan Alexander's Real New Yorker Bag. This would absolutely be a splurge, but it's so cute.

9. I went to the first day of Smyrna Market season and bought some treats. I ended up buying some sourdough bread for the week along with some pastries from Bonnin's Bakery. I'm so glad that I was able to get some Black Butterfly Lemonade from Soul Food Holistic Healing. I also bought a breakfast sandwich from Martha's Boy. I was planning on buying some fruit as well, but we still have enough for the week. I'm thinking of going back later today to buy a few extra fruits like blueberries and strawberries to make some homemade syrup.

10. Michael's birthday is coming up, and it's a milestone birthday! I'm really excited and have already started making preparations for his day.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Friday! This was another somewhat long week. I ended up getting sick towards the end of the week, but it's been nice having some time to rest. This weekend is the Spring Jonquil Festival, and I'm hoping I feel well enough to go.

1. I usually dread Mondays, but Alessandra Olanow's list of how she feels on Mondays was so relatable. Also, it made me laugh.

2. I finally picked up 107 Days by Kamala Harris at my local library. The wait list was really long, so I was especially excited when I received the notification that I could pick it up. I can't wait to dive into the book.

3. Resting. After dealing with some back and hip pain followed by an incredibly awful cold, I'm so grateful to have had time to rest. I plan to rest some more over the weekend, and I'm excited about taking an afternoon nap.

4. On repeat: Noah Kahan's newest album, The Great Divide.

6. I'm so grateful for modern medicine. I came down with an awful cold and was prescribed a few things. I had a great chat with my doctor and learned a few new things about vitamins, exercise, and more.

7. I'm always anxious when I have to go to the dentist, but I had a great dentist appointment this week. My hygienist and dentist were so incredibly kind (as usual) and patient.

8. The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage in California, closed the front entrance of its hotel entrance to protect a hummingbird's nest that was built on the door handle. I thought this was the sweetest thing ever, and I also learned about the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

9. On the wishlist: GoNanas Strawberry Crumble Cookie Mix and Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix. I was so excited when I found out they have new cookie mixes.

10. I just realized there are only 18 more school days left. We're all excited for summer vacation.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday! It was a long week, so I was excited when Friday finally arrived. I had a great weekend with minimal errands and chores. It was nice to lounge around at home. However, we also took advantage of the nice weather, and thankfully, the pollen count wasn't as high as in the previous weeks.

1. After a long and exhausting week and even more exhaustingly long Friday, I just got amazing news! I'm not ready to share yet, but it's related to my career goals and the next steps in my career. I'm beyond excited and now a bit anxious, as it's a huge decision to make.

2. To celebrate the good news, I went to one of my favorite bakeries, McEntyre's, and bought a few sweet treats. I even bought a couple of their "last chance" donuts, and they were so good. It made me think about food waste and how restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores handle unsold items before they close.

3. Which brings me to my discovery of Too Good To Go. This company was founded in Copenhagen, and its goal is to fight food waste. Too Good To Go connects shoppers with local restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, and other businesses to buy food at a discounted price. Shoppers can buy surprise bags, which are filled with food that is still good to eat, but would otherwise go to waste or be thrown out since it wasn't sold at the end of the day.

4. On repeat: Menina de Vermelho by MC Menor JP, RAMONMIX, and The Ironix

5. Currently reading: My Name Is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout

6. The Children's Place and Old Navy have a few good deals going on right now. At the Children's Place, there's an extra 25% off sale and free shipping. Also, if you have any "Place Bucks", now is the time to use them. I believe the sale ends tonight. I bought the boys several basic T-shirts in various colors. I plan on purchasing a few pieces of summer clothing at Old Navy. Also, if you have Super Cash from Old Navy, you can use it until April 26, 2026. Plus, you can combine your Super Cash with other deals.

*This is not a sponsored post at all. I just really like The Children's Place and Old Navy. And your girl loves a good deal or two.

7. I made a really good chicken Alfredo pasta bowl, and I made enough for leftovers for lunch.

8. On the wishlist: Commercial Soda Can Sealer. I would make so many canned lattes.

9. I've been watching Lauren Sephton's (from BrightMomentCo) baking videos. Now I want to try so many recipes. I definitely have to try the wild blueberry vanilla coffee syrup.

10. I lit a new candle this week, and it was a nice little pick-me-up. I've been enjoying lighting my candle in the evening while I watch a show, read a book, or listen to music while folding clothes.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday! Today is the last day of our spring break, so I'm a little sad that it's over, but I'm also happy that it means we only have about a month or so left of school and work. The countdown has begun! This break was much needed, and we had a blast.

1. Having the week off for Spring Break was just what we all needed. We spent a lot of time resting and relaxing. It was so great not to stick to a routine (for the most part). I loved being able to take random afternoon naps. The boys especially loved staying up past their usual bedtime.

2. We celebrated Raphael's birthday all week long. We did our usual birthday tradition (gifts, birthday cake, balloons, and the birthday boy's choice of dinner). We also went to Urban Air over the weekend to continue celebrating Raphael's birthday. It was so much fun.

3. All things Artemis II. I hope Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, Victor Glover, and Jeremy Hansen know how much joy and wonder they gave the world. It was incredibly extraordinary...miraculous what they achieved. I loved seeing the joy on the faces of the astronauts and leadership during the livestreams. When I found out they would be cut off from contact with Earth for a little over 40 minutes, my heart dropped; when I found out they were safe and had reestablished contact, I rejoiced. Watching the astronauts come back to Earth was amazing. I'm still in awe. They gave me hope for humanity, and also, how cool that they actually went on the far side of the moon! I hope astronaut Koch and all the other women who helped with this mission realize that they've inspired so many girls and women. With all the terrible and scary things going on, the Artemis II was such a gift during these uncertain times. Thank you, Astronauts Wiseman, Koch, Glover, and Hansen.

4. A must-read: Liz Plank's essay on Artemis II.

5. Currently Reading: The Best Dog in the World by Alice Hoffman

6. I was feeling a little unsettled and decided to go for a 3-mile walk. It was everything I needed. I came home feeling more at ease. I really need to do this more often. Now that the pollen count isn't as out of control as it has been in the past few weeks, I may be able to go on my daily walks more often.

7. On repeat: The Yawning Grave by Lord Huron

8. John and I went to Trader Joe's over the weekend, and I had a blast picking out new-to-us things. We don't often go to Trader Joe's, so it was a treat to randomly pop in. Also, the employees are just so incredibly nice, and every time I've gone to Trader Joe's, it seems like everyone (including the customers) is in a good mood.

9. Grocery store tulips. It's the simple things. Always and forever.

10. This wonderful message.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! It's officially Spring Break, and Raphael's birthday falls during the break, which is nice. We're all so excited. We plan to have a staycation, but haven't set any plans for what we'll do during the break. It'll be nice to just go with the flow instead of having a schedule.

1. It's finally April, and I'm so excited for this month. Spring is in full bloom, and I can't wait to go to the farmers' market, buy fresh tulips every week, and go on more walks.

2. On the wishlist: Rain. The pollen has been out of control, and we've been having to stay indoors a lot. Thankfully, we're supposed to get some rain this weekend, and I'm hoping it'll wash away all this pollen.

3. I signed up for Beth Spencer's Introvert Drawing Club, and I'm so excited to work on a few drawing prompts. I'm really hoping for some more play and creative time in April.

4. "I miss the pandemic." Same, Danny, same. Seriously, I thrived during the pandemic.

5. A song on repeat: In the Kitchen by Mree

6. Inspired by: Nathalie's mixed media paintings. I'm hoping to work on some mixed media and pair it with some of Beth Spencer's art prompts.

7. Raphael and I woke up a little early this Saturday morning and got some errands out of the way. There were barely any people in the stores we went to, and we got done fairly quickly. This Saturday morning was quiet and blissful...and for that, I am grateful.

8. I finally caught up on reading a bunch of newsletters on Substack. I think I may make reading Substack newsletters on Saturdays part of my weekend routine. It really was nice to sit for a while and catch up on my favorite newsletters.

9. I've been keeping up with the Artemis II space mission and think the photos are so cool. I also ended up going on a Wikipedia wormhole about space, and it was so interesting.

10. I love, love, love the idea of curating a birthday stocking. With Raphael's birthday coming up, I think this would be a really nice gift idea.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! This was a bit of a busy week, and I'm glad the weekend is finally here. We're all dealing with allergies, so we're planning to stay in this weekend. We'll probably play some video games, maybe a board game or two, watch a movie or TV show, and of course, read a book. I plan to catch up on some Substack newsletters and start reading a new book.

1. This tree diagram and other sketches by Morgan Harper Nichols were really inspiring.

2. I finally found POM teas, and they are so good! I especially love the Pomegranate Elderberry Boost Tea.

3. Harrison Ford's Life Achievement Award Acceptance Speech had me in tears. This was one of the best speeches ever. Harrison Ford is an absolute legend.

4. A song on repeat: Brother by Kodaline

5. Aubrey Hirsch wrote and drew this fantastic piece about ChatGPT Dads, and it was an interesting read.

6. "Little did I know having a girl helped me become a man." These words by Lavonte David made me tear up.

7. Currently Reading: Brawler: Stories by Lauren Groff

8. On the wishlist: It's spring, and I'm in my floral era. I read about a woman, Rachel Weisel, who makes her own bouquets using Trader Joe's flowers. Now I'm interested in taking her Supermarket Flowers 101 class.

9. I found a Terry's Milk Chocolate Snowball (yes, it was still good) in my candy bowl, and I was so excited (I may or may not have let out an excited squeal). In fact, I'm currently eating a piece as I type this.

10. This upcoming week is the final week before spring break, and I'm so excited.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! This week felt so long, especially with the start of Daylight Saving Time. I always struggle with the time change. Even my usual one cup of coffee a day didn't seem to help. I was especially happy once it was Friday. This weekend, I'm hoping to go to our local St. Patrick's Day festival or go for a walk near the market village.

1. My order of Carolyn Yoo's Spring Practice booklet zine arrived, and I can't wait to use the journal prompts and patterned papers.

2. I made a homemade sports drink, and it was pretty good. I used this recipe.

3. I used my Super Cash from Old Navy to buy the boys a few things, and I also bought some new, pretty swing dresses (I bought one in every color). I was especially happy to have saved a lot of money.

4. This post by Rani Ban.

5. A song on repeat: To Be Loved by Askjell feat. AURORA

6. Finished Reading: We Burned So Bright by TJ Klune. This was a fantastic book. Klune's storytelling is perfection. A full review will come soon.

7. I finally got my hair done after having to postpone my appointment due to the weather. It was so nice to have a few hours of me time and get that done as well as my eyebrows. I also managed to get a few errands done quickly. This Saturday was perfection.

8. Another song on repeat: Welcome Home by Radical Face

9. Amy Turn Sharp's letters and memories to her deceased friends and family. I often find myself thinking about life and death during this time of year. Reading that post made me want to make one for my family members, friends, and acquaintances who are no longer here.

10. Late afternoon/early evening walks have been such a joy. I plan to go on a few more this weekend with John and the boys.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday! It's been two weeks since my last happy and grateful list post. Last week, I didn't get to share my weekly list because it was pretty busy. I was hoping to post it over the weekend, but unfortunately, I came down with an awful cold... and I was still battling it. For the past week, I've been resting in bed and have consumed so many bowls of soup, popsicles, and water. I'm only just now starting to really feel better.

1. We had a low-key Valentine's Day, and it was wonderful. John and the boys gifted me beautiful tulips, treats, and a candle I've had my eye on for a while.

2. I saw the first jonquils this week in my city, and it made my heart happy. Spring is almost here. The pink tulips on my dining room table are still alive, and they bring me such joy when I walk into our dining room.

3. Despite being sick, this winter break did have some productive moments. I did some more research related to my career goals and feel so much better. I also got some major things on my to-do list done.

4. A song on repeat: Black Clouds by Andrew Belle

5. A random fact I just learned: Katherine Applegate wrote the Animorphs series with her husband. I have no idea how I didn't know this. I remember reading that series when I was a kid.

6. On the wishlist: Swig Life's Loopi Tote Bag. I love the Busy Bee design, and it would be perfect for all my trips to the farmers' market. I also love the Funky Chicken and Teacher/Educator designs.

7. I'm so grateful for modern healthcare. The medicine I was prescribed has been helping a lot, and I'm starting to feel better.

8. After checking a couple of emails on Friday morning and running a quick errand, I went for a three-mile walk, and it was the perfect workout. The weather was fantastic, and it was so great to finally feel well enough to go for a long walk and be outdoors.

9. We will be getting new flooring downstairs, and I'm really excited. I'm not looking forward to clearing the entire downstairs of our home, but I can't wait to see the end result.

10. I've been really into various versions of still life. Sarah van Dongen shared some wonderful still-life sketches and pieces from her sketchbook, which really inspired me. I love that she used collage for her work.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! This week was an eventful one. Only one unexpected thing happened, which was absolutely not fun (see #3 on the list), but thankfully everything is ok. This work also went by quickly. This weekend, I plan to get a couple of errands done and watch Bad Bunny's halftime show performance. I also plan to start a new book or two. I can't wait.

1. When the world feels heavy and is a bit too loud, the venerable monks and their walk for peace continue to restore my hope in humanity.

2. Ryan Goff's beautiful short about winter

3. My optometrist. I had to see my doctor after hours, after injuring my eye (don't worry, I'm fine) while trying to prep and cook some shrimp. While panicking and sobbing, I called my optometrist and left a voicemail. John and I were going to head to the urgent care, but my optometrist called just minutes after I left the voicemail, saying he could meet us at the office. Long story short, I got my eye flushed, examined, and was prescribed some medicine. My eye looked significantly better the next day, and now it's basically fine. I'm so grateful for our insurance, and most importantly, our doctor(s).

4. Finished reading: Is This a Cry for Help? by Emily R. Austin. This was such a great book! The story follows Darcy, a librarian, who returns to work after suffering from a mental health crisis upon learning about the death of her ex, Ben. After returning to work, Darcy must navigate protests about censorship and book bans. The story also touches on Darcy's struggle with her sexuality and her family life.

*Thank you to NetGalley for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review.*

5. A song on repeat: SHYNE by Travis Scott feat. GloRilla

6. I was so excited when I found out RYZE has mocha coffee latte sticks in stores. I tried it this week, and it's so good. John even loves it too. I do wish that it came in a bigger box or maybe in a bag, but I can see that this flavor is going to be one of our long-time favorites. I also bought the caramel coffee latte sticks, but haven't tried them yet. If you're interested in trying RYZE, use my code THEEMITIMES15, and get 15% off your next order by clicking here.

*Please know that I don't share affiliate links unless I absolutely love the products.*

7. It's still really cold, but at least it's not below freezing. I'm also happy it's supposed to be even warmer next week (lows in the 40s, highs in the mid-50s and 60s).

8. Nina Cosford's sketchbook snippets are so cool.

9. I bought the boys' and John's Valentine's Day gifts. We also got Raphael's teachers a little gift and his classmates some Valentine's Day cards and treats. John and I tend to be really low-key on Valentine's Day, but we'll still get each other a gift. I think I'm going to bake a Valentine's Day treat as well. Honestly, I love that Valentine's Day is on a Saturday.

10. This upcoming week is the week before our winter break starts, and I'm so excited to have a week off. I plan to work on lots of crafty projects and catch up on some shows. I'm also hoping to get in a few winter walks.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Friday! It's been a week. We had no school or work on Monday because of the winter storm, so it was nice to have an extra day to rest and relax. I'm currently under the weather and am looking forward to resting this weekend. There's another winter storm on the way, so we'll be at home this weekend.  I'm hoping for some snow this time. I plan to read a book or two and drink so much hot chocolate. Either way, I plan on staying cozy this weekend.

1. I picked up a few books I had on hold at the library and can't wait to dive into them. What are you currently reading?

2. I've been devouring soup this week. One of my favorite soups is chicken tortilla soup, and I ended up ordering some from Newk's.

3. Vanessa's Fem Quotes journal

4. A song on repeat: EoO by Bad Bunny

5. I saw a group of students peacefully protesting the funding of ICE and the administration, and I was happy to see them using their voices to be heard. I hope everyone who is currently protesting remains safe.

7. Letter #22: To Frida Kahlo from Jane R. Shore. A fantastic read, and the artwork is so cool.

8. Sharing funny memes and videos with my little sister.

9. Valentine's Day chocolate. The Ghiradelli Crème Brûlée hearts chocolates are absolutely delicious.

10. It's finally Friday, and January is almost over.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday! This has been a week. A super short work week, my youngest was feeling under the weather, the actual weather has been insane, and we are currently staying cozy and warm while hunkering down from this ice storm.

1. Grocery store roses. They are so colorful and gorgeous. I loved putting them in my new favorite vase.

3. Crawfish Pepperjack Soup from Newk's. Perfect on a cold winter day.

4. A song on repeat: Messy by Lola Young

7. I bought a pair of Brooks Anthem 7 Running Shoes and absolutely love them. They are so comfortable, and I love the neutral color. This is my first purchase from this brand, and I'm planning to get a second pair soon.

8. On the wishlist: A subscription to Uppercase Magazine

9. Easy Activism for Heavy Hearts. Yes to all of this.

10. School and work have been canceled for Monday. We're so excited to stay home. It'll be nice to get some extra rest after such a hectic week.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Friday! This was a strange and busy week. However, I still made a point of remembering the things that made me happy this week. It's always a joy to remember the good.

1. I was summoned for jury duty and initially was annoyed. However, it wasn't that bad. It was actually an interesting day.

2. John and I had a day date and decided to get brunch at First Watch. I decided to try an item on their seasonal menu. I ended up ordering the B.E.C. and a Purple Haze juice. The meal was delicious.

4. A song on repeat: Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac

5. Currently reading: Gold Flame by Lily Archer

6. This piece by Elle Luna

7. Devouring: Strawberries and pineapples

8. I started working in my Project Life album and loved going through my Ali Edwards' Stories By The Month kits. I'll have to place an order for my photo prints soon. I think I may try to work on my journaling while I wait for the photos to arrive. Also, I'm on the hunt for a new printer that can print photos and documents at home. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

9. New favorite snack/treat: Trader Joe's Rainbow's End Trail Mix Bar. 10/10 highly recommend.

10. The weekend is here, and it's a three-day weekend! I plan to stay warm and cozy, watch a new show, and read a good book. What about you?

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! This was the first week back to a regular routine since winter break. My birthday was on Monday, which was a nice way to start the week. It was great catching up with my colleagues. For the most part, this week was great. However, my heart continues to break over the state of the country and the murder of Renee Good.

1. I've been trying to eat and drink healthier food and drinks. So far, things are going great. I'm still enjoying RYZE mushroom coffee and have noticed that I'm gravitating towards healthier snacks. I'm also really excited and happy that I've been drinking more water.

2. Kate McLeod's Valentine's Day collection just launched, and I'm so excited to try the Sweet Blossom lotion bar

3. Health, dental, and vision insurance. We're fortunate to have it, and thankfully, our premium didn't go up.

4. A song on repeat: Karanlikta by Sparklyel

5. Currently reading: Substack newsletters

6. While making my grocery list, I noticed a few deals on Daiya products. These are dairy-free items and not something I'd typically try, but I'm interested in trying a few different things this year. On Friday, we tried Daiya dairy-free cheese pizza, and it was actually pretty good! I would buy this again. Now, I'm excited to try their mozzarella cheese shreds and Swiss cheese slices.

8. Inspired by: Sabrina Joy's artwork, this pocket-sized visual journal by Anna Baker, and simple layouts by Ink Paper Photos.

9. Little pockets of quiet time.

10. It's finally the weekend! I'm looking forward to some rest, and I might try making peasant bread with this recipe

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday and Happy New Year! I'm so excited for this new year and this new chapter. I spent the last few days reflecting on 2025 and on how I would like this year to unfold. I really hope this is an even better year than 2025. And so far, 2026 is looking good. One thing I hope to continue is my weekly happy-and-grateful list. It's been such a big part of my self-care routine and a nice way to remember the good things in life.

1. I closed out 2025 learning about the monks walking for peace, and I have enjoyed keeping up with their journey via Instagram.

2. We deep-cleaned our home, and we finally tackled decluttering the boys' room and toys. I was shocked at how many boxes and bags we filled. We were able to donate a bunch of stuff, but we also tossed out a few things.

3. John and I bought RYZE mushroom coffee and can't wait to try it. We've been on the hunt for healthier coffee and are hoping this works out for us.

5. Currently reading: A Christmas Memory, One Christmas, and The Thanksgiving Visitor by Truman Capote. Yes, I'm still reading holiday stories and books.

6. Since my birthday is on Monday, we started celebrating over the weekend. John and I went on a date on Saturday. We went to Roxy's Burger, then wandered around Marietta Square.

7. We went to Trader Joe's, and I was so excited. I found so much good stuff to try.

8. I got a subscription to the New York Times as a gift and have been enjoying playing the games and reading the Modern Love column. The Tiny Love Stories are so good.

9. I think this creative block has finally lifted, and I can't tell you how happy I am. I'm hoping to share more of my work in the coming weeks, but for now, I'm content to just create.

10. I love that my birthday is just a few days after the New Year. Somehow, I feel more energized, more motivated, more hopeful...what a blessing, what luck to be able to celebrate two major events within days of each other.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Friday! It was a whirlwind of a week, but now it's the start of winter break! The weekend is here, and it's time for another happy and grateful list.

1. Pushkin the Christmas Gnome by Brad Montague was such a sweet short story.

2. It's been a joy crossing off things on my holiday list. I'm so close to finishing everything I need to do for the holidays. This week was such a whirlwind. It's going to be so nice to cross the final thing on my list.

3. We went to Raphael's class holiday party and had a great time. We played games and made a few arts-and-crafts projects. Raphael decorated a pine cone, and it turned out really cute. He even added some tiny ornaments.

4. I tried a cookies and cream hot chocolate from Starbucks (don't judge me, please) and it was actually pretty good. If you want to order one, just ask for four pumps of white mocha sauce and cookie crumble topping.

6. Currently reading (and absolutely loving): See One, Do One, Teach One by Grace Farris.

7. We celebrated Gabriel's birthday and had a good time. Even though his birthday was in the middle of the week, we still did our traditional birthday rituals. We were planning to celebrate more over the weekend, but unfortunately, Gabriel has the flu. Thankfully, today is the last day of school before we officially start winter break, so he'll be resting at home. Overall, he's doing fine, and I'm so grateful for that.

9. Super random: My esthetician and I had such a great conversation during my appointment. The conversation left me feeling deeply inspired, and it was also great to hear someone else's perspective on life.

10. Winter break has officially started, and I'm so excited!

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! This week was a busy and somewhat stressful one. But overall, it was a pretty decent week. Side note: I only realized more than halfway through the week that we are already in the double digits for the month. I can't believe that in just a couple of days, we will be halfway through December. Although it's a busy time of year, I love that I am still keeping up with my happy and grateful list reflection. So far, the weekend is going pretty well, and I hope yours is a good one too.

1. We finally bought our new family ornament. We actually bought three of them, and we love them. We're big fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas and saw a few ornaments related to the movie. We ended up buying a Jack Skellington and a Zero ornament. We also purchased a Pikachu ornament

2. Currently loving: Whole Foods Market Organic Honeycrisp Apple Juice. Seriously, this is delicious. 10/10 highly recommend.

3. I finished reading The Legend of the Christmas Witch by Dan Murphy and Aubrey Plaza. I absolutely loved this book and am looking forward to reading The Return of the Christmas Witch.

6. I bought a 25-day book lover's advent calendar and absolutely love it. Although I bought this calendar on the 12th of the month, it's been fun checking out the little surprises from the previous day. It actually has useful items. I plan to use some of the items in my sketchbook/journal.

7. I've been preparing for Gabriel's upcoming birthday, and I'm so excited to celebrate his day.

8. I had my eye on Sephora's Holy Sheet Set and was excited to see that there was a deal going on for 30% off all Sephora Collection items. I plan to put this in my stocking. By the way, the sale ends on December 14, so if you've been thinking about making a purchase, now is a good time.

9. I've been thinking about what my word for 2026 will be. For the past couple of days, one word has been making its way in, but I'm not sure whether I should commit to it. This year, I didn't really work on documenting my word for the year, but I'm glad that I still reflected on it off and on throughout the year.

10. I'm so excited that winter break officially begins this upcoming Friday afternoon. I'm so ready to have the next two weeks off, and I'm excited to celebrate the holidays with my family.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday! It's time to share my happy and grateful list. Can you believe that the first week of December is basically over? Overall, this week has been pretty great and also quite productive. What are some things that made you happy or grateful this week?

1. It's finally December! I love that the first day of December fell on a Monday. It was a nice start to the month and a fresh start to the week.

2. We went to our city's Christmas Tree lighting, and we had a great time. This is one of my favorite family traditions. The decorations throughout the downtown square and surrounding area are gorgeous, especially at night, of course.

3. After coming home from the Christmas Tree lighting, we finally put up our Christmas tree at home. We still need to buy a new ornament, so I'm hoping we can find one this upcoming week. Maybe we'll get a couple of new ones instead of just one.

4. I went to the Smyrna Handmade Holiday Market and had a blast. I loved seeing all the small businesses and had fun chatting with some of my favorite local shop owners.

5. I went to the soft opening of Common Threads Boutique, which is at the exact location as a previous boutique (and also one of my favorites), Blue Bird Lane Boutique, that recently closed down. I was delighted to see that the new owners are former employees of Blue Bird Lane Boutique.

6. Have you heard of food forests? I recently learned about food forests and was surprised to learn about the Urban Food Forest at Browns Mill. Are there any food forests in your state?

7. A song on repeat: Trust by Sophie Lowe

8. I celebrated December's arrival with Nothing Bundt Cakes' newest pop-up flavor, Coconut Cream Snowflake. And it is so good!

9. I read an advance copy of Cristina Ergunay's Central Park: Adventures Through the Seasons, and I loved it! I was hit with a heavy dose of childhood nostalgia, and now I want to go back to New York to visit.

10. I've been reading Brittany Viklund's 12 Days of Stackmas series on her newsletter, Brittany's Notebook. I love her Advent calendar and have enjoyed reading her book recommendations and thrifting tips.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! Today I'm sharing my happy and grateful list. It was a pretty great week. I've read, listened, and watched so many good things. We had a few fun events happen, too. Also, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (even though Thanksgiving hasn't arrived yet). What are some things that made you happy or grateful this week?

1. It was a busy week, but a highlight of the week was going to Raphael's Thanksgiving Feast at his school. It was nice to join his class and check out the work he's been doing. He was so excited to show us his drawings that he had made with one of his friends.

2. I watched The Nun II, and now I want to do a Conjuring series rewatch. #spookyseasonforever

4. A Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate. A bit sweet, but so delicious.

7. I received a paperback copy of Cleo Wade's Remember Love from Random House, and I'm so happy to read this new version of the book. I'm excited to check out the annotations. I remember when I first read the book, I absolutely devoured it.

8. I bought these amazing joggers from Old Navy. The name, SoComfy, suits these joggers because they really are comfy and so soft. I also bought a couple of Old Navy's Dynamic Fleece Jogger Sweatpants. These sweatpants are a great alternative to their SleekTech Cargo Joggers. They are perfect for colder weather and for staying indoors, too.

10. We're officially on Thanksgiving Break, and I am so grateful to have the week off work. I can't wait to spend time with my family, eat good food, watch some fun holiday movies, and listen to Christmas music.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Sunday! Today I'm sharing my happy and grateful list. With the current state of the country (and the world), I believe it's important to remember the things that make us happy and grateful. For me, this weekly ritual is an essential part of my self-care. Also, it's nice to balance out the good and the not-so-great.

1. I don't usually get excited about movies, but I just saw the teaser trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, and I can't wait to watch it!

2. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I've already asked the boys what they would like for Christmas, and I've been making all the lists. We are planning to shop for a new holiday ornament (love this tradition!). I'm also planning to go through all my holiday clothes and accessories to start preparing for my staff's holiday spirit dress-up days.

3. I absolutely love the idea of mothering myself. This was such a good reminder

4. A song on repeat: Hurricane by The Aces

6. I finished reading I Remember Nothing by Nora Ephron and absolutely loved it. Now I'm on a Nora Ephron kick and just picked up a copy of I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman.

7. On Saturday, I went to The Read Shop and tried their Gingerbread Latte. It was so delicious. I also stopped by my new go-to bakery, McEntyre's Bakery, and bought some thumbprint cookies, gingerbread men cookies, ginger bears cookies, and a strawberry cream cheese croissant. We devoured the thumbprint cookies. I may have to start making these at home, especially since it's cookie season. For the holiday season, I may try to make a different type of cookie (maybe a cake or some pastry) every week.

8. We celebrated my baby niece, Vivi's, first birthday and we all had a blast. It was great spending time with my family and seeing my nieces and nephews. I say this every time, but they are growing so much. I can't believe that my oldest nephew will be an adult next year. And now my youngest niece is a year old!

9. Old Navy's Super Cash began over the weekend, and I definitely took advantage of all the sales. The boys needed some new cold-weather clothes (they are growing so fast). I also have my eye on a few pants and joggers for myself.

10. We only have five more days before Thanksgiving Break begins, and I'm so excited. I'm ready to spend time with family, eat delicious food, watch a couple of movies or shows, play some board games, and rest.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Saturday! Today I'm linking up with Charlotte for a weekly happy and grateful list link up.

1. I lit my first candle for the fall/winter season, and it brought me so much joy. In fact, I can't remember the last time I lit a candle besides a birthday candle. I have all these candles that I either bought or received as gifts, but have yet to light them. This season, I'm in my candle era, and I plan to light a candle every evening.

2. I recently learned about Fridge Finder, which is a website/app that allows people to find community fridges that contain free food in New York. I think it would be so cool to have this all over the country.

3. John and I played a few rounds of Guess Who? and tried to teach Raphael how to play the game. I hadn't played Guess Who? in years, and it was so exciting to play it again. In fact, we (mainly me) haven't played many other board games in a while, but we plan to change that. There's just something about playing board games during fall and winter that soothes me.

4. A song on repeat: Golden Brown x Love Story (Slowed and Reverb). I really like this mashup.

7. I returned a stack of library books and can't wait until the next batch of books I've placed on hold is ready to be picked up. One of the books I plan to read next is I Remember Nothing by Nora Ephron.

8. On the wishlist: This Speckled Ceramic Stubby Candle Holder. Also, this Brass Garland Golden Leaf Garland would look perfect around the candle holder. Shout out to Joanna Goddard of Cup of Jo and Big Salad for recommending this on The Good Trade's newsletter

9. The results of the November 4, 2025, elections gave me some hope. May people continue to ensure their voices are heard and continue to vote in every election.

10. I'm so glad it's the weekend, and it's going to be a much-needed, laid-back weekend, which I'm grateful for.
