Target Finds

Happy Wednesday! It's time for another edition of Target Finds! It's been a couple of months since I've shared a Target Finds post, so I thought it'd be fun to share one today. Trust me, I've been ordering stuff at Target, but it's primarily been essentials that I bought, which is why I haven't shared anything. I'm sure you all don't want to know about the usual essentials. Right?

Ready to see what I found recently at Target? Well, let's check it out.

Mother's Halloween Circus Animal Cookies

These taste like the regular Mother's Circus Animal Cookies, but they were in the shape of bats and cats. My boys loved them, and it was a simple way to celebrate fall and Halloween season.

Didn't See That Coming by Rachel Hollis

This was somewhat of an impulse buy. When I first saw this book, I didn't buy it. I kept going back and forth on purchasing it. I read the back cover of the book, and it really interested me. This will be the first book by Rachel Hollis that I've read. I'm hoping that it's a good read. I'll have to do some research because I ended up finding out that there's been some controversy surrounding her.

Dear Justyce by Nic Stone

I haven't read this book yet, but I was so excited to buy it. It's been on my TBR list since before it was actually out in bookstores. I enjoyed reading Dear Martin so I knew that I had to pick the sequel as soon as it was released. I will definitely share a review of Dear Justyce after I finish reading it.

Pepperidge Farm Milano Pumpkin Spice Cookies

I'm a big fan of the Milano cookies, so I was excited to find this limited-edition flavor. I am fairly certain that Pepperidge Farm never had a pumpkin spice cookie, so it was a nice surprise. My boys also loved these cookies. I only had two cookies before they got a hold of the bag and devoured them. I've since bought several more bags.

Overall, I found some great things at Target. As usual, I was able to save on all of my Target Finds by using the Cartwheel app and buying items on sale.

What are some of your favorite Target Finds?

If You and I Had Coffee

If you and I had coffee...

We'd meet at a little coffee shop (and practice social distancing...of course). We'd order some seasonal beverages and pastries. After getting our drinks and food, we'd take a walk around the neighborhood.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd ask how you are doing? With everything going on in the world right now, it's important to know how our friends and family are coping. I'd ask you if you were able to go out and vote. Or are you planning on voting by mail?

If you and I had coffee...

I'd ask you what are you currently into? What are your favorite shows or movies at this moment? What are you currently reading? Are there any songs that are stuck in your head?

I'd tell you that I've been reading a bunch. I'm excited about Mindy Kaling's Nothing Like I Imagined (Except for Sometimes) collection on Amazon. I also can't wait to read Dear Justyce by Nic Stone and Solutions and Other Problems by Allie Brosh. There are many books that I still need to finish reading and a massive amount of books on my bookshelves that I want to read. It's starting to get hard to choose which ones to read next.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that I've been feeling so creative. I actually worked on several pocket page layouts and even worked in my journal as well. I have no idea why I'm always so much more creative in fall, but I love it. I still have to work on some projects and a couple of blog posts, but I'm feeling so good and hopeful. I feel like my creative energy has been replenished.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd thank you for taking the time to meet with me. It really does mean a lot to me. I'd tell you I can't wait for our next coffee date.

What would you tell me?

Fall Bucket List

Happy Wednesday! Summer is over, and I'm only about two weeks late with this post, but better late than never. We're still in that weird seasonal transition...weather-wise at least. The mornings are so much cooler, but some afternoons are still hot. It was almost 80 degrees yesterday afternoon.

Since it's my favorite time of year, I thought I'd share my fall bucket list. This year will be different due to the pandemic, but it's not going to stop me from celebrating the season and most importantly, Halloween. It'll be different, but still fun.

  • Drink apple cider
  • Watch 5 new (or new-to-me) horror films
  • Watch my favorite Halloween movies
    • Practical Magic
    • Hocus Pocus
    • The Nightmare Before Christmas
    • House on Haunted Hill
    • Halloweentown
    • The Craft
    • Hotel Transylvania
  • Read scary stories
  • Finish reading at least 3 books that have been taking me a while to finish
  • Walk on the Silver Comet Trail
  • Drink apple cider
  • Toast pumpkin seeds
  • Bake Halloween cookies
  • Bake bread
  • Make grape and bbq meatballs
  • Try 3 new fall recipes
  • Donate to a local pantry or church
  • Carve pumpkins

The Truth Is...

The truth is I'm still struggling with this creative block. It's bizarre. I feel like my creativity is coming in waves. One day, I'll just want to create all day and the next...I can't think of anything. It's really frustrating because I do want to create. Whether it's writing, painting, memory keeping...it doesn't matter, I just want to make something. Then I'll sit down, and nothing comes to my mind.

The truth is I've been worried about my health. I've been feeling really exhausted. Most might say it's just being a mom that's making me tired and the pandemic isn't helping, but now I'm starting to worry that it's more than just that. Never have I been so excited to actually go to my annual doctor's appointment. Ever since I had my oldest son, I've been more aware that I need to be in good health, especially for my kids. They need me and I want and plan to stick around for a while. I have too much stuff left to do. Here's to hoping that I get some answers soon.

The truth is I'm extremely anxious about politics. I'm actually avoiding the news again. I'm both excited and dreading November. I'm so ready to vote, but I'm still dreading what could happen. Some days, I have hope and then other days, not so much. All that to say...please vote and make your voice be heard.

The truth is I've been struggling with grief. I've been thinking about my baby brother a lot. They say that over time it gets easier, but I'm not sure it's true. I'm not even sure how to put how I'm feeling in words. It just hurts so much.

October Goals

Happy Thursday! Can you believe that it's finally October? I am so excited! It's my favorite time of the year and one of my favorite months of the year.

Last month was pretty good, even though I was exhausted for most of the middle of the month. We celebrated John's birthday and spent time with family. I worked on some creative projects and read a lot. The boys are doing well in school, and their report cards were great. I'm so proud of them. Remote learning is getting more manageable, and we have settled into a routine.

This month, I'm excited to read some spooky stories. I plan on watching some scary movies and TV shows. Halloween may be slightly different this year, but I'm still planning on what we will do. We'll definitely continue some of our fall and Halloween traditions, but we are still deciding what to do as far as trick-or-treating. What are some of your plans for Halloween?

Before I continue to ramble, let's recap on my goals for September and check out my goals for October.

Recap of September Goals

  • Read 5 books: I read so much. I'm happy to say that once again, I accomplished this goal. I still have a few more books that I need (and hope) to finish by the end of the year. There are just so many books that I want to read and so little time. I'm still struggling with acknowledging that it's ok to stop reading a book if I can't get into it.
  • Work in my journal: I didn't work in my journal as much as I'd like, but I'm calling this a pass. I really want to work in my journal every day, but sometimes it's just not possible. I'm hoping to get in the habit of making this something that I get done every day. I may just start to wake up earlier or even set a timer, so I'm reminded to work in my journal.
  • Work on 30 Days of Lists: I worked on this mini-project, but I didn't complete it. I don't have a good excuse for why I didn't finish this challenge in September, but I plan on completing it this month.
  • Publish one personal piece for the blog: This was a fail...again. However, there will be a piece that is published on the blog this month—mark my words.
  • Finish my Positivity Passport journal: I had so much fun working on this project. Yesterday, I put the final touches on my journal.
  • Try 1 new recipe: This was a fail. I'm not even sure why I put this goal down every month. I have no excuse for not trying a new recipe.

October Goals
  • Read 5 books
  • Publish one personal piece for the blog
  • Try 1 new recipe
  • Finish 30 Days of Lists challenge
  • Exercise 3 days a week
  • Drink more water

What are your goals for October?
