I Remember
I remember and will always remember. I am sure that this country will never ever forget about September 11. To this day, I still remember exactly what I was doing and where I was at. I still remember how I felt when everything happened.
This day always makes me emotional. I feel sad because so many people were injured and so many lives were lost. So many families were affected. It hurts to know that there were so many children who have to grow up not knowing their fathers. It made me angry to think of how people can just be so evil and have no regard for human life. However, when I look back and watch videos and photographs of people helping one another, I think about how strong and united America is.
Today I plan to reflect on this day of history and remember those whose lives were lost. Today I plan to remember the heroes of September 11.
We will always remember.
"Remember the hours after September 11th when we came together as one to answer the attack against our homeland. We drew strength when our firefighters ran upstairs and risked their lives so that others might live; when rescuers rushed into smoke and fire at the Pentagon; when the men and women of Flight 93 sacrificed themselves to save our nation's Capitol; when flags were hanging from front porches all across America, and strangers became friends. It was the worst day we have ever seen, but it brought out the best in all of us."
-Senator John Kerry

Yes, always remember. This is a beautiful reminder, Emily. Although I'm Canadian we were pretty shaken and our world changed forever. Thanks for this post.
ReplyDeleteI think the entire world was changed that day.
DeleteYes, I will always remember where I was and what I was doing as well. It was a day that changed all of us forever.

I agree. I think it changed the entire world.
DeleteWe will always remember. I find now that part of paying my respect is teaching my kids about the event and the heroes that day.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think it's so important to teach kids about the event and it's so important to mention the heroes of that day.
DeleteThis is beautiful, Emily. I will never forget where I was and what I was doing that day and everytime I see that video of the plane going into one of the towers, I still have the same feeling in the pit of my stomach. An event like that definitely puts things into perspective.
ReplyDeleteI always watch the documentaries and they just leave me in tears. The missing posters of the victims always breaks my heart.
DeleteI remember we had drove into work and turned on the radio while we sat in the parking lot for a few minutes. We couldn't believe what we were hearing. Couldn't even believe it. We walked into work, we worked at Disney World, and people were pretty much running out of the park. We were huddled in the break room when the second plane hit. I will never forget.
ReplyDeleteIt really was an awful and scary day. We had just moved from New York City to Virginia when it happened. I was in school and we were supposed to go to a field trip near D.C., but then the teachers told us we had to go back inside. Eventually they told us what happened, but I think they were really scared to because a lot of the students' had families that worked in D.C.
