Just What I Needed

Yesterday, John and I went to the Silver Comet Trail and walked for 6.5 miles. Despite living in Georgia for over a decade, I had never visited the trail. For the past few months, I have been wanting to check out the trail, but didn't have the chance until yesterday.

I have been going through a roller coaster of emotions. So many good things are happening, but I have also been really stressed and a bit overwhelmed. I really felt that I needed a few hours of just feeling at peace and a restart.

Going to the trail was just what I needed! John and I had so much fun on the trail. We talked about everything and saw so many cool things. We saw tons of caterpillars, berries, a woodpecker, and a snake! A grasshopper jumped on me which freaked me out because I thought that it was one of those huge flying bugs that I am terrified of.

There were also times where we were silent. I felt so peaceful and even got a few ideas for new projects. It was so nice to just hear the sounds of nature...I can't even describe how amazing it felt. I nearly wanted to cry at how calm everything including myself felt.

I plan to visit the Silver Comet Trail more often and explore it some more. I highly recommend this trail and I can't wait for my next visit.

Have you been to the Silver Comet Trail? Are there any trails that you love?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

  2. Sounds like an incredible experience, and I'm so glad you were able to calm your mind for a few moments and enjoy the stillness and beauty of Mother Nature. There's a word for this you know! It's called "Shinrin Yoku and it means "forest bathing"--the Japanese think this is a wonderful meditative practice <3

  3. I have never heard of this trail before - although I am not from that area. I do find that taking a nice hike or walk is just so refreshing and good for my soul. I've been taking a lot of them lately with my son. It helps his anxiety too. I'm glad it left you feeling good inside.

  9. This is how I feel at the beach. In our own little cove or in the water, I can drown out the world and just be. I sleep quick and hard when the waves are singing to me. There are a few trails here I love to hike. Actually, I really need to visit a few before the year is up. Im going to do that!
