If You and I Had Coffee

If you and I had coffee...

We'd chat once again via FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom because of the damn coronavirus. Most likely, it would be via Zoom since I need to learn how to use it. You would most likely notice that I have a massive mug of coffee. Let's just say that homeschooling stuff has been a bit...challenging.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that I've wanted to go on lots of walks, but the pollen has been insane. So we've been stuck inside. It's such a shame because the weather has been fantastic and the flowers are so beautiful. I've wanted to take more photos, but being stuck at home is not helping.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that I'm still in a creative block. I have so many ideas and things that I want to make and write, but I haven't had the energy to do anything. It's really frustrating because you would think that being at home all day would help me create more, but of course, it doesn't. Just my luck.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd ask you what you are currently reading and if you have any book recommendations. I've been reading a lot. I'm so happy that I've been putting my Kindle to good use. The Kindle app has also been incredibly useful. I highly recommend the Kindle or using the app.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that I'm planning on trying to get the boys to write in a journal. I think it would be cool for them to share their thoughts and feelings, especially during this time. I also wonder if they'd be interested in art journaling. Sometimes I like to add their artwork in my journals. It's a good thing that we have lots of art supplies, but I need to find some more inexpensive art journals for them. If you have any recommendations on art journals for kids, please let me know.

What would you tell me?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

  1. I know a lot of parents who have thrown in the towel when it comes to homeschooling. Since it's so late in the school year, they aren't concerned with continuing the lessons and are just going to wait until next year. My allergies have been terrible. The pollen count has been through the roof already and it's only going to get worse. I'm struggling with creativity as well. Some days are good, but with the stress and anxiety of everything going on now, my brain doesn't want to function, and that's okay. I'm giving myself some time to work through this, and hopefully will have lots of ideas soon. I've found some cheap but decent sketch books at either the dollar store or Walmart that would make great art journals for kids. I'm so glad you joined the coffee date this month, Emily. Hope to see you next time!

  2. If you and I had coffee, I'd tell you that my emotions run the gamut, but that I'm mainly positive. It's just in times when I first wake up or lay down to sleep that I rue the day getting away from me. Not being able to accomplish what I should. Not being able to get time for me. Do I purposely sabotage myself with too much to do? That's what I'm thinking about. But I feel your pain, especially with pollen. That stuff if my kryptonite! I'll settle for watching this beautiful world thrive without human interference from inside! Peace to you, my friend.

    1. Thank you so much Eli! I'm so glad that you are staying positive. It has been nice watching the world from inside. I hope you have a great day.

  3. I can't imagine trying to teach kids from home when you aren't used to it. It's not normal times, so you do the best you can. I love the idea of the boys doing an art journal though. I'm sure it would be a fun way for them to share their thoughts and feelings about everything going on in the world. I'm sure it's hard for kids to fully grasp and handle. I mean, I'm an adult, and it's still tough.

    1. Thank you. I'm hoping that the art journal will help entertain them rather than having them just watch too much TV or play too many video games.
