My Favorite Halloween Movies

It's almost Halloween! I've been watching so many Halloween movies! I've watched a nice mix of family friendly films as well as scary films (that obviously my boys are not allowed to watch). Since one of my favorite movie genres is horror and it's almost Halloween, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite Halloween movies. I've included some family friendly films in my list as well.

  • Practical Magic: I love this movie so much. I love the Midnight Margaritas scene and the song Coconut by Harry Nilsson always gets stuck in my head.
  • Hocus Pocus: A classic. This is a must watch Halloween film. I watch it every year.
  • Coraline: This is a creepy movie, but it's so good. There's even a book.
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas: We love this movie so much. The boys always ask to watch this movie. We consider this film to be both a Halloween and Christmas movie so we watch it on both holidays. It's become a family tradition and we love it.
  • The Addams Family: Another classic. Wednesday Addams is my favorite character.
  • Hotel Transylvania (The entire franchise): We love the entire franchise. This is one of the boys' favorite film series.
  • The Book of Life: Oh my goodness. This is one of my favorite movies. The songs are amazing!
  • Coco: This is another one of my favorite movies. I love the story as well as the music. I think everyone should watch this at least once. I've been singing Remember Me a lot.
  • Halloweentown (The entire series): I always love watching the entire series during fall and Halloween. It brings me back to my childhood. However, I don't watch the last film in the series as much as the first three films.
  • Beetlejuice: Betelgeuse! Betelgeuse! Betelgeuse!
  • House on Haunted Hill: This film used to scare me so much when I was younger.
  • Dawn of the Dead: I've watched this movie so many times and it still scares me every single time! *SPOILER* There's a scene where one of the characters asks why the zombies are coming to the mall. One of the other characters says that maybe the zombies remember the mall (perhaps they still retained some memory of their past life) or maybe the zombies just know that they are there! So scary!
  • The Conjuring (The entire series): This entire series is amazing! I love all of the other films in the Conjuring Universe as well. I highly recommend that you watch them all.
  • Halloween (The entire franchise): Another classic. I'm sure this is on everyone's list of horror films to watch.

There are so many other great Halloween movies that I watch during this time of year and I know I definitely forgot to name a few. However, these are my go to films for this time of year.

What are some of your favorite Halloween movies?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

  1. I watched Nightmare Before Christmas on Friday - such a good film, and it's definitely good for both Halloween AND Christmas. :)

  5. I love Coco!! Everyone in our family loves it and now the kids are kind of obsessed with putting pictures of dead relatives up so they don't disappear. :)

  6. Im such a weenie! The boys laugh at me because the troll from Earnest Scared Stupid still gives me nightmares! And I have only watched the movie ones as a kid. I can do paranormal, vampires and even werewolves, if they are in wolf form not those freaky scary ones. LOL . Everything else is out.

    1. I love paranormal films. The only films that I really don't like to watch are films like the Saw series and Hostel. I barely watched the first Saw film. I don't think they were really scary...they were just too gross.
