Hello Cards--Garden Party

Happy Wednesday! I have been trying to use up a lot of my supplies especially my Freckled Fawn kits. I have been subscribing to Freckled Fawn for a little over a year now and I still have items from every single one of the kits that I received. This is awesome because it means that these kits really can be used on various projects. In an attempt to try and use up my kits, I have been making lots of cards, tags, Project Life cards, and scrapbook layouts. Today, I want to share a couple of cards that I made using a previous Freckled Fawn kit and the Garden Party paper pad that I found at Tuesday Morning.

Can you believe that both of these cards were made primarily with one page from the 6x6 paper pad. I used a polka dot paper from the pad as the background for the card on the left and then used the remaining cut apart paper on it. I added some heart shaped enamel dots and some some thickers to spell out "Hello". Most of the cut apart paper is used on the card on the right. I added a butterfly shaped wood veneer and some yellow puffy stickers to make the card pop. Below are close ups of the cards.

I love the heart shaped enamel dots on this card. I think the April 2015 Freckled Fawn kit and the Garden Party paper pad really coordinates perfectly.

I absolutely love the cut apart paper! I decided to primarily use it on this card and once I trimmed the paper to fit the card, I noticed that I had some leftovers which is why I used the rest on the other card. Since part of the images were cut, I decided to simply add a wood veneer butterfly to one of the rectangles. To add a pop of color, I used some yellow puffy stickers to spell out the "Hi" sentiment.

These cards just scream Spring and I love it. Normally, I am not too into florals and plants in my cards and other projects, but I'm starting to have a change of heart. Don't be surprised if you see more florals and plants in a few more projects.

Supplies Used:

  • Garden Party 6x6 Paper Pad
  • Freckled Fawn-April 2015 Kit
  • American Crafts Blooms Thickers
  • Tombow Mini Power Tape
Do you like florals and plants? Are you glad that Spring is finally here?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

Currently List #100

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List! Can you believe that this is my 100th Currently list? I absolutely love filling out one of these lists every week. It really is a great and easy way to document your life. Many of you may know that I found out about the Currently List challenge from Rukristin. Kristin even has an amazing Currently collection which you can check out here. And without further ado, here is my currently list.

Watching: I can't even with politics right now. I have been watching a lot of news reports on the Brussels attacks.

Reading: As usual, I have been reading lots of blog posts as well as emails.

Listening: This song is incredible and has been on repeat for days now.

Making: I have several projects that I have been working on. I've been drafting blog posts, making art journal pages, completing my lists for 30 Days of Lists, and have been making sketches for cards. I can't wait to use my new Studio Calico mystery kits and stamp grab bags on those cards.

Feeling: Oh allergies...why just why? I have been really tired lately and I know that my allergies are to blame.

Planning: I need to go to the grocery store, but I need to make my list first. Maybe I'll even get stuff that's on the list. I really need to stop going to the grocery store when I'm hungry.

Loving: Even though the pollen has been annoying, the weather has been nice. I loved that it rained yesterday and washed away some of the pollen.

What's on your Currently List?

What I Love About Spring Layout

Hey! Hey! Happy Friday! Spring is finally here and I am loving it! On the first day of Spring, I decided to make a layout about why I love Spring.

Slowly but surely, I am using up all of my previous Freckled Fawn kits. For this layout I used the April 2015 kit. I also used some Project Life cards from the Seasons mini kit. This was a very simple layout to make and I was able to complete this layout in less than 15 minutes.

I love the butterfly wood veneers. I kind of wish that I had purchased an extra set of the the wood veneers and the heart shaped enamel dots. They are just perfect! I love all of the flowers that are on the card on the left and the definition/description of Spring on the card that is on the right.

I added some journaling to a project life card and decided that the title of that card would be the title of my layout. If you click on the picture, you can see little phrases on the card that is on the left. I flipped over the butterfly wood veneer that is on the right side so that it would not have the same design as the one on the left.

I think this is a great way to make layouts without using photos. I may just have to make a similar layout for the rest of the seasons.

Day At The Zoo Layout

Hey! Hey! Today, I'm so excited to share this layout. As soon as I got my Freckled Fawn kit, I knew it would be perfect to document our trip to the zoo. I do want to apologize for the photos. The lighting was terrible.

I primarily used my Freckled Fawn kit for this layout. I also used some distress markers which is the first time that I have used them on a layout.

To make this layout, I used my Recollections Zoo-Vicious stamp set to stamp some animals. Once the images were stamped, I adhered my photo in the center and then added some strips of washi tape at the top and bottom of the photo. Then I added some enamel dots in the empty spaces. I added my title using some puffy stickers. For some extra decoration, I added two transparency clouds and a sunburst wood veneer. Below is a close up of the title and journaling.

How cute are those puffy stickers? I love the white and gold combo.

Quick Tip: If you decide to use stamping in your layout, I would suggest that you think about whether you want to use markers, watercolor, or colored pencils. This is super important especially if you choose to use watercolors in the end. I was going to use watercolors, but ended up just using my distress markers. I realized that once I put everything down, it would probably be hard to watercolor without getting stuff messy. To be on the safe side, I used my distress markers because I didn't want to risk getting any of the embellishments wet. If you use watercolor on your images first then you can try to hide any mistakes with other embellishments.

Supplies Used:
  • Freckled Fawn Kit-March 2016
  • Sharpie Pen
  • Distress Markers
  • Recollections Zoo-Licious Stamp Set
  • Tombow Xtreme Adhesive
  • Heidi Swapp Date Stamp
  • Ruler
  • Ranger Archival Ink Pad
  • Acrylic Block

Have you made any layouts this week?

Life Layout

Happy Wednesday! Last week, I made a few layouts and wanted to share this one.

This layout was very easy to make. First, I gathered my supplies and then laid out the cards and photo on my cardstock. Once I figured out where I wanted my cards and photo, I adhered it onto my cardstock. I decorated two of my cards with puffy stickers and then added journaling onto one of my cards. I added some splatters of Heidi Swapp color shine. Below are a couple of close ups.

I ended up using one of the journaling cards as a mat and adhered my photo onto one the cards. I love the designs in Amy Tangerine's Stitched collection.

I'm loving the puffy stickers and hints of gold. I think it makes the layout pop. I don't think you can ever go wrong with using color shine or paint splatters.

Overall, I really like how this layout turned out.

Supplies Used:
  • Amy Tangerine Stitched 6x6 Paper Pad (Cut apart cards)
  • Heidi Swapp Puffy Stickers
  • Heidi Swapp Color Shine
  • Sharpie Pen
  • Tombow Xtreme Adhesive

Currently List #99

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List!

Watching: I have been watching a lot of haul videos on Youtube. People are already posting videos of their Studio Calico grab bag and mystery kits and I think it's cool to see what everyone has been getting. I've also been watching lots of tutorials...mainly art journal and Tim Holtz new collection videos.

Reading: As usual, I've been reading blog posts. I have finally caught up since I hadn't read a lot of them in the past couple of days.

Listening: New Kids On the Block...that is all. Their songs will never get old to me.

Making: I got some new stamps and have been making some Project Life cards using those stamps. I'll be sure to share those soon and might even do a giveaway as well.

Feeling: I got a bunch of stuff done ahead of time because I knew that I would have to go to the post office as soon as they open. There was an issue with one of the packages that I was supposed to receive. They lost it, but ended up finding it yesterday which made me really happy. I know you crafters, scrapbookers, card makers, etc. would be devastated to think that USPS lost a box of Studio Calico mystery kits and grab bags.

Planning: Yes, I need to go on a "no spend" and I intend to do so. I have bought a lot of craft and art supplies in the past couple of weeks especially last week.

Loving: Oh my goodness! The new Kelly Purkey stamps are awesome! It looks like most of the stamps are meant to be used in planners and even though I don't plan to use them in my planner, I have a few ideas on what I will use them for. I'm also loving the stuff I got from Studio Calico. There's about two stamp sets that I was not really in love with, but I will check out the gallery to see how everyone used their stamps.

What's on your currently list? Feel free to share!

Personality Tests

So a few weeks ago, I read this blog post over at The Daily Tay about personality tests. I know I took one in college, but after not being able to find my notes on it, I decided to take another one. I ended up taking the personality that Taylor linked on her blog. You can take this one or check out the other ones that are listed when you search Google.

The test didn't take long at all and I got lots of information from my results.

Apparently, I am INFJ-T.  The results state that INFJ personality type is rare, makes up less than one percent of the population. I am 72% introverted, 59% intuitive, 60% feeling, 90% judging, and 54% turbulent. The results also included some strengths and weaknesses. The results also included names of famous and fictional INFJs.

Strengths: Creative (I think I am), insightful, inspiring and convincing (I hope I am), decisive, determined and passionate (very true), altruistic

Weaknesses: Sensitive, extremely private (true), perfectionistic (kinda true...ok true), always need to have a cause, can burn out easily

Famous INFJs: Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Alanis Morissette

The results considers INFJs to be "advocates". It also describes INFJs as "quiet and mystical, yet very inspiring and tireless idealists".

Apparently I should have gone into the healthcare industry because the results stated that I should be a counselor, doctor, psychologist, life coach or spiritual guide. One thing that was especially true regarding the career path is that INFJs crave creativity and that we want productive work that can help others.

I think the results were very interesting and there were lots of information that was so true.

Have you ever taken a personality test? What were your results? Were they accurate?

Currently Loving

Happy Monday! I recently purchased some new craft/art supplies and I am loving them!

I bought a Dylusions Creative Journal a few days ago and I absolutely love it! It might just be my favorite art journal. I still love the Strathmore Visual Mixed Media Journal as well as their Strathmore Visual Watercolor Journal. However, I think I will be purchasing more of the Dylusions Creative Journals. I really like how the paper feels and that the pages are not thin. When I used some watercolors in the journal, I did notice that it bled through the page, but it was not a lot. Also the pages did not warp a lot either. Overall, I think the pages hold up well especially for watercolors. I haven't tried acrylic paints, but I am sure it will turn out ok.

You may have remembered me mentioning that I purchased the Sakura Koi Pocket Field Sketch Box (24 colors) a few weeks ago, but I am still loving and obsessed with it. It has everything that you need in this box. I love that there is a palette, sponge, and a water brush. There are more than enough colors in the box.

The new Distress Crayons are awesome! I love that there are so many things that you can do with them. You can blend them, use shading techniques, and use them as watercolors. What's even better is that you can find the Distress Crayons Watercolor Kit at Michaels. I believe that they are $25 USD, but I was able to use a 50% off coupon and got it for half price. The kit comes with a stamp set, brush, acrylic block, five watercolor papers, small Distress ink pad (black), a technique booklet, and of course a six pack of the distress crayons.

I will definitely share what I have made so far with these items in the next week or so.

What are you currently loving?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

March Mood Board

Hola! Today, I want to share a mood board scrapbook page that I made the other day. I have been loving Instagram and am so glad that so many people convinced me to make one. I love checking out pictures and hashtags. The other day, I randomly searched mood board and saw the coolest photographs. This inspired me to make a mood board, but in a scrapbook format.

I made this mood board using different supplies from various companies like Freckled Fawn, Amy Tangerine, and American Crafts. I even used some supplies from Michaels new craft collection, Modern Boho. Lately, I have been into lots of florals, feathers, quotes, and nature (i.e. trees). I have also been using lots of blues, pinks, greens, and hints of yellow in my projects so I wanted to be sure to include that in my mood board.

I love how this mood board turned out and that I didn't worry about making it perfect. I just simply adhered everything onto the paper. Since I had to so much fun making this mood board, I plan on creating a mood board every month and sharing it here and Instagram.

Do you make mood boards? Do you like to use mood boards as inspiration for your projects?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...
