Handmade Greeting Cards

Hello! I recently made a bunch of Fall and Thank You cards. The "Thank You" cards are geared towards teachers and school bus drivers. You may have seen the cards on my Instagram, but I thought I would share them here as well.

I used a bunch of embellishments from a previous Freckled Fawn kit as well as some patterned paper in my stash. How cute is that Owl? If you click on the picture, you can see that the enamel dots have glitter in them.

I also used some Freckled Fawn embellishments and patterned paper on this card. I really like the colors on this card. The striped alpha letters are so adorable and add just a bit of dimension.

School has already started where I live so I was inspired to make a batch of cards for teachers and school bus drivers. I used my Hero Arts sentiment stamp set and some chipboard stickers from Me & My Big Ideas. I just simply placed the sticker in the center and then stamped the sentiment beneath it.

I made a couple of sets of "Thank You" cards for teachers...it's perfect for those who have various teachers to thank. I love the apple stickers. They even have glitter on them, but the glitter does not come off!

You can find all of these cards in my shop.

Currently List

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List!

Watching: I have a few shows that I have to catch up on. I didn't watch a lot of TV last week so I will be playing catch up this week. I finally caught up on Silvana Sin Lana. This novela is awesome! I love it.

Reading: As usual, I'm catching up on some emails and blogs.

Listening: I am loving Katy Perry's new song Rise. Any song by Twenty One Pilots is awesome. Right now I am loving their song Heathens.

Making: I'm making lots of art journal pages and lots of lists. I also made my 30 Days of Lists mini album yesterday so the only thing I have to do is complete the prompts.

Feeling: Today was the first day that I got a decent amount of sleep so I am feeling well rested.

Planning: I really need to work on my Project Life album. I keep putting it off and now I am several months behind...again.

Loving: The extra time to sleep was just what I needed.

Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler--Blogging for Books Review

Hello! I just finished reading (or rather almost finished reading) Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler. When I chose this book, I honestly was not sure what to expect, but I was excited to read it. So you might be wondering why I didn't finish reading it, but we'll get to that later.

This book is a retelling of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. The story is about a young woman named Kate who basically runs the house for her father and younger sister. Kate's father, Dr. Battista,  is a scientist who is close to achieving a breakthrough that could help millions of people. Dr. Battista has a lab assistant named Pyotr who is about to be deported. If he is deported then all of their work could get lost. So Dr. Battista makes up a plan to try and get Pyotr to stay in the country. Of course, he asks Kate for help.

My Review: Sadly, I was unable to finish the book. The first few chapters were ok, but the book just didn't catch my attention at all. Also as I read the book, everything just seemed so predictable. For instance, when I read the blurb, I immediately knew what the plan was going to be. Also the characters just weren't great in my opinion. Kate is supposed to be very intelligent, but a lot of the choices that she made just didn't seem smart at all. She also seemed a bit immature and clingy. Pyotr was super rude. Kate's sister, Bunny, is pretty, but snobby. Dr. Battista literally did not seem to care at all about anything except his research and his plan was just incredibly horrible. If you haven't figured out what the plan is then check out the book and let me know what you think.

Overall, I will give the book a two star rating because the first few chapters were ok.

Have you read Vinegar Girl? If so, what are your thoughts on the book?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for this review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Currently List

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List!

Watching: While the boys are still sleeping, I watched a few videos on Instagram. I didn't turn on the TV to catch up on some shows because I didn't want to wake the boys up.

Reading: I've read a few emails, but no blog posts. Hopefully, I get to read a few blog posts later and start a new book.

Listening: I love our Sound Machine. The boys have one their room and we also have one as well. It really helps all of us sleep much better. We are definitely going to need it this week and possibly next week as well.

Making: Michael woke up around 5:30 in the morning today and wanted some waffles so I made him some.

Feeling: I am so exhausted. I think I have had about 8-10 hours of sleep in two days. I'm really hoping that Michael feels much better soon. I was so anxious and really scared yesterday, but everything turned out ok. So I'm feeling a bit better, but still exhausted. Michael is doing ok and is resting.

Planning: I have to make a few more appointments. I do need to work on some projects and I have a few deadlines coming up so when John gets home, I will definitely work on those. Thank goodness that I am almost done with two projects.

Loving: I am so happy to be back home and I know that Michael is too. We definitely feel so much more at ease being home.

30 Days of Self Portraits Mini Album

Happy Monday! Today, I want to share my #30DaysOfSelfPortraits mini album that I finally completed. You might remember that in June, I decided to make my own little challenge and take a selfie/self portrait everyday for 30 days. I don't take a lot of selfies so this really was a challenge for me. I am happy to say that I did complete the challenge. I do want to note that this is a very photo heavy post.

To make my album, I used the following products:

I noticed that there was a thick board in the Awesome Ladies Scrapbook Collection packaging and thought that it would be perfect for my cover. I used my We R Memory Keepers Power Punch to punch holes in the covers and my papers. I kept the cover simple and used the yellow alpha stickers to decorate the front cover.

The photo on the right is my favorite selfie. I really love how it turned out.

I may add a few more embellishments on the left page, but I think I may use a few stamps on the page.

I love the pop of yellow that is in the Awesome Ladies Scrapbook Collection. How cute are those black and yellow circles?

I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to add anything to the last page, but I kind of like how there's nothing on it. I really like the pattern on the paper.

Thanks for visiting and checking out my mini album!

Until next time...

30 Days of Lists Registration!!

Hello! Happy Thursday! It's that time of year again! 30 Days of Lists begins on September 1st, but registration is now open! I absolutely love this challenge and am so very happy to announce that I am a sponsor for this round!

What is 30 Days of Lists?

30 Days of Lists is an awesome challenge where you receive a prompt everyday for 30 Days. There is no right or wrong way to complete the challenge. You can also complete it at your own pace.

How I plan to complete the challenge?

I'm not sure yet. In the past I have made my own mini albums and notebooks, but I have also used store bought notebooks. I think I may make my own album this time. I might change it up a bit and use watercolors or acrylics, but I have so many Project Life cards and patterned paper that I need to use up. There's just so many different ways that I can complete this challenge which is another reason why I love this challenge. Below is previous mini album that I made using my Cinch binding tool and some Project Life cards.

As you may know, I opened my Etsy shop a few weeks ago. I have included a couple of mini notebook kits that are perfect for 30 Days of Lists! Below is one of the notebook kits that I have listed in my shop. You can find more information on this kit here and you can check out the rest of my products here.

Are you excited for 30 Days of Lists? How do you plan to complete the lists?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time!!!

*I am a sponsor for 30 Days of Lists and any purchases made using the link above will help support The Emi Times. Be sure to check out 30 Days of Lists and learn more about the challenge.*
