Currently List

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another currently list.

Watching: A Game of Thrones marathon...why not? John and I watched a couple of episodes from season 1. I'm still upset that Ned Stark was killed.

Reading: As usual, I read some articles.

Listening: You can never go wrong with Bachata.

Making: I have been making a few currently list cards. I still have a lot more to make for various projects.

Feeling: On Christmas, I spent most of the day resting and taking naps. I'm feeling so much better and I really think that the extra sleep really helped.

Loving: I really love my blankets. They are so warm and comfy.

Planning: I have so many goals for 2017. I don't think that I'm going to make resolutions because I think that resolutions are easier to break. Instead I will be setting goals and will track my progress as I attempt to achieve those goals.

Reading: As usual, I read a bunch of articles.

Listening: This song has been stuck in my head all day.

Making: I've been using my Currently List stamp and making a bunch of Currently journaling cards. I've also been drafting some blog posts.

Feeling: I'm certain that this will go away. I'm just trying to relax and keep calm. I just think that I've been a bit overwhelmed and have been way too busy.

Loving: One of my favorite Christmas songs is Michael Buble's and the Puppini Sisters' cover of Jingle Bells.

Planning: I've still got a few last minute holiday stuff to get done.

Currently List

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List!

Watching: This novela started a couple of weeks ago, but I had my DVR set to record the show. Today I'm finally going to watch a few episodes. I'm currently watching the first episode and I can tell that this is going to be a really good novela.

Reading: As usual, I have been reading a few news articles. There was one article that I read that I just can't get out of my head...I was in tears as I read the story. The article is about how Santa granted a final wish for a dying child. If you would like to check out the article, you can check it out over here.

Listening: This song has been stuck in my head for days now.

Making: I'm making a couple of blog posts. I haven't been trying to blog as much this month since it is a very busy month, but I still plan to post my Currently Lists.

Feeling: After getting a lot of stuff done and taking a nap, I am feeling so energized and well rested.

Loving: So far today has been great. I woke up really early and was able to get a lot of stuff done before I had to go wake the kids up. Once they went to school, I decided to take a little nap since I got a lot of stuff on my to do list done.

Planning: I have some exciting plans for next year. I've already been thinking about what goals I want to set for the new year. One of those goals is to blog more so I definitely need to come up with a plan for my blog.

Currently List

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List.

Watching: I don't normally watch The View, but I was able to watch some parts of it.

Reading: I bought this book a few weeks ago and I just started reading it. I am loving it and I definitely recommend the book.

Listening: Lots of music. I really need to add some Christmas music to my playlist.

Making: I don't normally eat breakfast (I know...I know...I really should), but I took the time to actually make some toast and eggs.

Feeling: I'm feeling awake and energized after not feeling well for over a week. I had been in pain for over a week, barely slept, and just felt sick so I'm so grateful to be feeling much better.

Loving: It's really gloomy outside and has been raining, but I love it. We definitely needed the rain since we were in a drought.

Planning: We only watched two episodes of the current season. After Glen died, we just kind of stopped watching.

Fall Wreath Layout Using Freckled Fawn Kits

Happy Wednesday! Today, I am so excited to share just one of the many layouts that I recently made.

For this layout, I decided to document my youngest son playing outside and trying to climb a tree. Once I chose my photo and adhered it to the cardstock, I decided to try and make a wreath using some embellishments from two Freckled Fawn kits. I tried to match the colors of the embellishments to the colors in the photo. Once I figured out how I wanted to lay the embellishments out, I used my Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue to adhere the leaf shaped wood veneers. Then I adhered the gold leaf sequins and the star sequins. I added some enamel dots and then finally added the gold rhinestones.

The journaling says "I love when the boys get excited to play with the leaves and the tree outside our house. Gabriel was so excited and tried to climb the tree. He looks so adorable. Watching the boys play, reminded me of my childhood. Oh the joys of childhood. So wild and free...full of adventures and pure joy!"

This layout was fairly easy to make and I definitely plan on making wreaths using embellishments again.

Supplies Used:

  • Recollections white, yellow, and glitter enamel dots

Have you made any layouts or any projects recently? Have you ever used embellishments to make a wreath?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

Watching: As usual, I'm watching the news.

Reading: I've been trying to catch up on some blog posts. I've also been reading lots of interesting articles.

Listening: I heard this song on a video that was posted on Facebook and now I love this song.

Making: I love making pastelitos. In other countries, pastelitos are called empanadas. They are so easy to make and super delicious.

Feeling: Today has been a great day so far. I was able to get a bunch of stuff done on time and had a bit free time.

Loving: It was so nice to have some alone time.

Planning: This week is going to be really busy so I definitely need to start planning the rest of my week.

Handmade Christmas Greeting Cards

Happy Thursday! Today, I'm sharing a few Christmas cards that I made. All of these cards are currently available at my shop.

I had so much fun making over 20 Christmas and holiday themed cards last week. I think they turned out great. Each card is different. One of my favorite cards is the Christmas Gingerbread House card. The house is just adorable and I love that it's colorful.

How cute are those trees and the houses? I really like the card with the cork tree and the stars. There are stars inside the tree. I think the hint of silver makes the card pop.

Have you started getting ready for the holidays?

At A Loss For Words

I was not going to post today. I do have a few posts that are already scheduled to post in advance this week so at least I do not have to worry about actually writing, editing, etc. However, I felt the need to just write this post. I have so many things say, but do not even know where to begin. Today, I am just shocked, frustrated, worried, and to be honest disgusted. I never post anything related to politics on my blog on this blog, but today I will. I just don't understand...I just don't understand...

To see (and know) that so many people chose to vote for hate is absolutely saddening and terrifying. To see that this man has repeatedly made sexist and racist comments and people still voted for him is shocking. Let us not forget about the comments he made towards immigrants, the LGBT community, veterans, and disabled people. To see that this is the man that many people chose to vote for is incredibly scary.

To those who are currently in fear for their families, friends, country, and even themselves...I am so sorry and please know that I am here for you. There are many people who are here for you. I stand with you.

Below are some awesome blog posts that I came across:

For those who are feeling overwhelmed or want to do something positive, please check out this link that has information on organizations you can support, donate, or volunteer with.

Today, I have noticed that here is so much sadness, fear, confusion, frustration, and anger, but let's not forget that there is so much love and hope still around.

Until next time...

To The Sweet Poll Worker

To the sweet poll worker that I encountered last Friday,

You may not remember me, but I will always remember you. While we had a very short conversation, what you said to me will stay with me for a very long time.

You: Good morning. Is this your first or second time voting?

Me: My first time.

You: That is great. You are doing your civic duty.

Me: Yes ma'am. Thank you.

What made this conversation so meaningful to me was that you said "You are doing your civic duty." I am sure that most people (hopefully everyone) are aware that women fought for the right to vote. It still amazes me that women even had to fight in order to have this right. As I stood in line and looked around, I could not help but think about those women who had to fight in order to vote. I thought to myself "My goodness. Imagine if I walked over here to vote and was turned away because I am a woman". We have come a long way, but that does not mean that we have to stop. We must continue to fight for women's rights.

Please don't forget to vote!

Until next time...

October 2016 Freckled Fawn "Home" Kit Review

Hey! Hey! I received my Freckled Fawn kit last week and I absolutely love it! I know I always say that, but they really do a great job with their kits.

I was so excited when I finally received my kit. I knew what was in the kit because I saw some pictures on Freckled Fawn's Instagram. For some reason, I especially love all of the kits that come out in October. My favorite kit of all time is this one. I also love the October 2015 Woodland Kit.

This month's embellishment kit includes:

  • Glitter washi tape
  • A set of flair
  • A pack of leaf and star sequins
  • A sheet of puffy stickers
  • A sheet of chipboard stickers
  • A sheet of cardstock stickers
  • A set of acetate letters
  • A pack of wood veneer arrows
  • A set of cork frames
  • A silicone "Love Today" shape

My favorite items in the kit are the stickers, leaf and star sequins, wood arrows, and flair. I mean seriously...how freaking cute are those houses? I usually don't use sequins in my projects, but the leaf sequins are adorable and I have an awesome project that I want to use them on. I definitely think that I will be purchasing a few of sticker sets and a couple of packs of the leaf sequins.

I can't wait to start working on some projects. I will be posting my projects on the blog as well as my Instagram.

Do you subscribe to Freckled Fawn? What was your favorite item?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

Listening: I love this song and I love that Michael Buble did a cover of the song.

Making: I'm hoping to get a lot of blog posts done this week.

Feeling: I'm feeling much better, but am still a little sick. I'm hoping that I am back to feeling 100% better by the end of this week.

Snacking with Chobani

Fall has officially arrived and I am so excited. I know lots of people are excited for Fall, football, and the upcoming holidays. With so many events just around the corner, one thing that comes to mind is food.

Lately, I have been trying to make some healthier choices. I noticed that at the beginning of Summer, we would constantly go out to eat. Towards the end of Summer, we began to eat more at home and I'm happy to say that we have been doing a very good job.

As you may know, I have two sons. My youngest son is a bit of a picky eater so it can be a struggle to get him to eat different foods including healthy food. I will admit that I am also somewhat of a picky eater.

One thing that my family and I love to snack on are chips and dip. Chips and dip is such a easy snack and you can make it healthy by making a few small changes. One of my boys' favorite vegetables are carrots. We switched from eating chips and dip to eating carrots and dip. I also love cucumbers and dip. For parents of picky eaters, think about vegetables and even fruits that you think your child may like. Try offering the vegetables and fruits with the dip. You may be surprised that your child(ren) may enjoy the food with dip.

Chobani currently has a new collection of dips called Chobani Meze Dips. There are four new flavors: Roasted Red Pepper, Chili Lime, Three Pepper Salsa, and Smoked Onion Parmesan. These dips are made with natural ingredients. Each dip contains real vegetables. There are no artificial flavors or preservatives. Compared to most hummus brands, Chobani Meze Dips has 80% less fat and 65% fewer calories.

Have you tried Chobani Meze Dip? Which one are you excited to try? Check out Chobani for more information on their new dips.

Art Supply Haul

I love going to the art store. Normally, I got to Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but almost two weeks ago, I went to Blick Art Materials for the first time. And you guys...I felt like I was in heaven! Today, I thought I would share a few of the things that I have purchased from various stores throughout the month.

Hobby Lobby Purchases

Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock: I was running low on Distress watercolor cardstock. I needed to get some more because this is what I am using for my 30 Days of Lists mini album. I love the size of these cards. I also love that you can use either side of the card. One side is textured and the other side is not. I tend to use the smooth side a lot more.

Strathmore Watercolor Cards: I was running low on watercolor cards so I bought another pack. Even though I can make my own watercolor cards for greeting cards, I like to have a pack of Strathmore watercolor cards because it is convenient. It saves me time from having to measure, cut and fold watercolor paper. I don't use Strathmore watercolor cards often because there are not a lot of cards and envelopes in each pack.

Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors Watercolor Set: So this purchase was both a need and a want. A few weeks ago, I bought a small bottle of Golden gold acrylic paint, but then realized that I did not have any gold watercolor paint. None of the watercolor sets that I have came with a gold or silver watercolor paint so I decided to look for some. I don't like using watercolors that come in the tubes so I was a excited when I found that Kuretake Gansai has a set of gold watercolors. The set even came with a silver as well which was awesome. It was a bit pricy, but I used a 40% coupon from Hobby Lobby so that dropped the price down.

Canson Watercolor Artboards: I have been debating getting these Canson watercolor artboards for a couple of months now. I hesitated for a while because I could not justify the price or the amount. This was $20 at Hobby Lobby and only came with 10 boards. I ended up buying this and used a coupon. I'm glad that I did buy it because I plan on making a painting for my little sister's birthday. So I do consider another want and need purchase.

Michaels Purchases

Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolors: I wanted to try some "professional" watercolors so decided to buy a Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolor set. Michaels had some really awesome sales and coupons a few weeks ago, so I took advantage and bought this set. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the Cotman series are actually student grade watercolors. I was very surprised because the colors look amazing. I also like the amount of paint that comes in each pan and honestly think that they will last a long time. This was definitely a "want" purchase.

Winsor & Newton Watercolor Brush: After reading Just Add Watercolor, I realized that I did not have any brushes that can be used for fine details so I immediately bought one at Michaels.

Royal & Langnickel Brush: I have a bottle of varnish at home and found out that it would be best to have a brush that I only use for it so I bought a large brush. Since all of my brushes that I have are either for acrylic paint or watercolor paint and I do use them for that purpose, I decided that it would probably be best that I just buy an inexpensive brush for the varnish.

Blick Art Materials Purchases

Moleskine Watercolor Notebooks: I am a huge fan of Moleskine notebooks, but have never owned their watercolor notebooks. I was so surprised to find out that Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Joann do not carry Moleskine notebooks. Usually when I purchase my Moleskine notebooks, I go to Barnes and Noble. Unfortunately, my local Barnes and Noble bookstore does not carry the watercolor notebooks so I either had to buy it on their online store or just try to find it in another store. I really don't like online shopping and found out that Blick Art Materials carries the notebooks. I have never been to Blick Art Materials so I was excited to check the store out and get the watercolor notebook. I bought two watercolor notebooks and they are awesome!

Have you purchased any new art supplies?

Currently List

Happy Tuesday! It's time for another Currently List.

Watching: I still love this show. It's so funny. I've also been watching the news on what happened in New York.

Reading: I've been reading lots of blog posts, emails and articles.

Listening: I. Love. This. Song. It's just beautiful and amazing.

Making: I'm starting to get better at writing a lot of my blog posts in advance and have been posting more often than usual.

Feeling: I'm super sleepy, but I am so ready to get a lot of stuff done.

Planning: I am going to work in my watercolor notebook today and I plan to try and make some cards. I have so many ideas that I want to sketch and paint. Today is definitely the day to work on that.

Loving: Even though it's gloomy outside, I'm loving the rain. We were in a drought so rain was definitely needed.

What are you currently up to?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...
