Currently Loving

Hello! Happy Saturday! Today, I wanted to share a few things that I am currently loving.

As you may know, I am a stationery addict. I love notebooks, pens, etc. I have been using Moleskine journals for a while now. I have several in various sizes as well as soft and hard cover journals. I prefer the soft cover journals, but the hard cover journals are nice as well. Lately, I have been loving the cahiers. These notebooks are similar to Traveler's notebooks. I plan to use my Moleskine cahier (the kraft notebook pictured above) for December's 30 Days of Lists as well as for my December Daily.

I am also loving my new May Designs notebook and definitely plan to purchase a few more. I love that you can personalize the notebook. There are tons of patterns and fonts to choose from. I'm really loving the Pineapples pattern notebooks and the font that is on my notebook. I plan to use my May Designs notebook as a hybrid journal...kind of like a journal/art journal. I currently use a Strathmore journal as a hybrid journal. However, I have been using that journal mainly for watercoloring and stamping.

I am loving stamping. I am currently using the three stamp sets pictured above a lot. Pinkfresh Studio has a new Christmas collection called Christmas Wishes that is adorable! I am loving their Christmas Wishes stamp set and will be using this stamp set to make Christmas cards and decorate my 30 Days of Lists/December Daily notebook. The other two stamp sets are from Freckled Fawn. I use the smaller stamp to make lists or to add lines so I can journal. The alphabet stamp is awesome and I use it to make titles or to journal. I love that you can color in the letters and numbers in this stamp set.

I am obsessed with ephemera. I love that you can use ephemera to make cards and tags. You can even use them in your journals, art journals, Project Life layouts, traditional layouts, etc. I just bought a few packs of ephemera from Tuesday Morning for $1.49. I highly recommend that you go to Tuesday Morning, Marshalls, or TJ Maxx if you are looking for any scrapbooking goodies. They have awesome prices.

I am loving Studio Calico's Seven Paper journaling cards. I think they are perfect to use in mini albums, Project Life, or journals. All you need to do is fill out the card. I definitely need to buy a few more packs because I know I will run out of these cards soon.

I just bought this watercolor set a few weeks ago and used them for the first time last week. These watercolors are amazing! The colors are bright and gorgeous! I was using Michaels Artist's Loft Watercolors Pan Set and I do like them, but I have been wanting to try a professional set.

You will definitely be seeing a lot of these things that I'm currently loving being used on some projects soon.

What are you currently loving?

Currently List #83

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List!

Watching: I don't want to watch the news because everything that has been happening is just incredibly horrible, but I know that I need to. It's important to be informed about what is happening not only in our own country, but in other countries as well.

Reading: As usual, I'm reading lots of blog posts. I've also been reading a lot of news articles as well.

Listening: iTunes Radio really is the best. I've been listening to the Urbano Latino, Pure Pop, and Hip-Hop stations.

Making: I've been making lots of art journal pages and a few Project Life layouts. I still have a week or two of Project Life that I need to finish.

Feeling: I finally got a decent amount of rest and was so glad that I didn't have a lot of stuff to get done today.

Planning: I really need to start working on my Christmas cards as well as my December Daily. I'm hoping to get started on that later this week.

Loving: Ah, nap time...it's such a rare thing now, but it was so nice to be able to take one today.

Think Happy Thoughts Card

Hello! Today, I want to share another card that I made and submitted to Paper Issues Fall Crop on their Facebook page, Paper Issues {Friends & Fans}. I submitted this card to A Flair for Buttons challenge. For this challenge, participants were asked to use flair on any project.

To make this card, I grabbed a sheet from Heidi Swapp's September Skies 6x6 paper pad and adhered it to the card base. Then I found an adorable pocket page card from Me & My Big Ideas and adhered it onto the card. I added a badge from Studio Calico. The badge says "It's gonna be ok". The pocket page and the sheet from the paper pad goes so well together. I love how colorful it is.

Fall Harvest Card

Hello! As you know, a few days ago Paper Issues held their Fall Crop on their Facebook page, Paper Issues {Friends & Fans}. I made several cards, layouts, and art journal pages for several challenges. You can check out the three cards I made for three different challenges here. I submitted this card to Dona's Orange Challenge.

I was inspired to make this card after seeing a card that a woman made using a grid. I thought it was so cool how she stitched the grid. I decided to just use my Sharpie Fine Liner pen and a ruler to create the grid. It didn't come out perfect, but I decided to not let this card go to waste. Then I took my Heidi Swapp color shine (in mustard) and added some splatters onto the card. After the color shine dried, I added some enamel dots first and then the wood buttons since they had adhesive on them already. I added the pinwheel sticker and then used my Tombow adhesive to adhere my wood veneers onto the card. This card did not take very long to make and I definitely plan to make more cards similar to this one.

Supplies Used:

  • Heidi Swapp Color Shine-Mustard
  • Recollections Dimensional Stickers
  • Imaginisce Wood Buttons
  • Recollections Wood Veneers
  • Recollections Halloween Enamel Dots
  • Foam dots
  • Tombow Xtreme Adhesive

Trio of Fall Cards

Hello! On November 6th and 7th, Paper Issues held their Fall Crop on their Facebook page, Paper Issues {Friends & Fans}. I participated and made several layouts, cards, and art journal pages for several challenges. Today, I want to share a few cards that I made.

In order to make these cards, I decided to use just one paper pad, one pack of die cuts, and a tag. I didn't want to overwhelm myself with a lot of product so I decided that choosing up to 5 items would be best.

For my first card, I adhered some sheet of paper pad from American Crafts Autumn Crisp 6x6 paper pad. Then I took some foam dots and put them on some Imaginisce Fall die cut card stock shapes. I loved adding some dimension to my card. Aren't those animals so adorable? I submitted this card to Corri's Color Challenge.

For my second card, I took another piece of Autumn Crisp paper and adhered it to my card base. I found an American Crafts DIY tag and used some foam dots to add the tag onto the card. Then I used a couple of Imaginisce card shapes. I also added some foam dots onto the shapes. I submitted this card to Jamie Dougherty's Tag Challenge.

My third card was very simple to make. I just adhered some paper onto my card base. I found an adorable wreath shape die cut and knew immediately that I wanted to use it on a card. I grabbed some foam dots and used it to adhere the die cut onto my card. I didn't even think to add any enamel dots, stickers, etc. I love how this card came out. I submitted this card to Sherri's Pop It Up Challenge.

Supplies Used:

  • American Crafts Autumn Crisp 6x6 Paper Pad
  • American Crafts DIY tag
  • Imaginisce Fall die cut cardstock shapes
  • Foam Dots
  • Tombow Xtreme Adhesive

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List!

Watching: With all the rain, the boys have been restless and running around the house.

Reading: As usual, I've been reading some blog posts.

Listening: This song is awesome! I am so glad that Adele is back. I may just have to purchase her album.

Making: I have been making a lot of layouts in my art journal. I also made a bunch of cards, layouts, and a Project Life page for the Paper Issues Fall Crop. I still need to make a few more projects as well.

Feeling: It's been raining way too long. I love the rain, but it's just too much now. It seriously feels like it's been raining for almost a month.

Planning: I've got lots of blog posts to type up and I'm trying to get better at typing my blog posts ahead of time.

Loving: I got my Freckled Fawn Kit and I love it! There are a few items in the kit that I may have to purchase so I can have some extras. I plan to post a review of the kit in the next week or so.

Just a bunch of randomness

Hey! Hey! Yay it's Friday! I was going to post a layout today, but I didn't finish it so maybe I'll post it tomorrow. I have had a lot of stuff going on this past week and October was kind of busy, but at least things should slow down soon. I was going through my notebook and reading all the stuff that happened during the last few weeks and just wanted to share a few things with all of you. I also wanted to share some awesome stuff that I read as well.

  • So my washer died on us about almost two weeks, but we were able to buy another one and have it delivered in two days! You know you're an adult when you are excited that you just bought a washer and even more excited when it's finally delivered. The delivery men must have thought I was crazy when they saw how excited I was.
  • I received my first May Designs notebook yesterday and I am in love! I have heard about them and contemplated purchasing a notebook for a while, but never did. May Designs sent people who signed up to receive their emails an e-gift card. The cards ranged from $5-$100 and I received a $10. I received another gift card from this really kind woman so I ordered my book and only paid $1. Seriously that was super nice and awesome of May Designs and the woman. I definitely plan to pay it forward.

  • I'm loving this blog post from Our Holly Days. This is so accurate!
  • So I'm in love with Paper Issues Shop. I received my order last month and received it in three days! Three days!
  • Conversation with my youngest son:
Sees me with two pieces of Sweetarts and grabs for it
Me: This is my candy. I gave you and M some candy.

G: I want it please.

Me: Where did your candy go?

G: It disappeared.

Me: Where?

G: <Pauses and looks at> In my mouth.

Me: But this is mine.

G: Please, it disappeared.

Me: Ok.

Well that's it for today. Hope you all have an awesome Friday and enjoy your weekend.

The Martian-Blogging for Books Review

Hello! Hello! I received my fourth book from Blogging for Books a couple of weeks ago and just finished it. I chose to review The Martian by Andy Weir. I was super excited to receive this book because I wanted to read it before watching the movie. I read this book really fast...it was that good!

The book is about a man named Mark Watney who is one of the first people to walk on Mars. He was left behind by his team who thought that he was dead. They were wrong and Watney ended up being stranded on Mars. There were just so many things that could go wrong and it appears that Watney will die on Mars. Fortunately for Mark Watney, he is incredibly intelligent and has a lot of skills that allows him to survive. Eventually NASA finds out that Watney is alive and they try to come up with a way to rescue him.

I don't want to give too much away, but I highly recommend this book. It was well written and had me on the edge on my seat. If you like Sci-Fi books, NASA, etc. then I definitely think you will enjoy this book.

Have you read The Martian? If so, what are your thoughts on the book?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...

I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for this review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Halloween Night Layout-Pumpkin

Hello! Hello! I have been busy making Halloween layouts and working in my Project Life album. I'm hoping to get caught up with my Project Life album by the end of this week so that I can start making a bunch of Christmas and holiday themed cards. I love Fall, this time of year in general, and the holidays, but it does get stressful since I have a ton of stuff to do. This ends up causing me to have a lot of crafting things to get done. I definitely do not want to have to spend part of 2016 working on holiday stuff from this year. So some deadlines and extra planning will be done today. Now that I have rambled a bit...let's get to this Halloween layout.

For this layout, I used DCWV inc.'s Eek-a-Boo 6x6 stack. I really love this collection and am glad that I bought two of the 6x6 stacks last year. Normally, I don't layer my card stocks and patterned papers, but I decided to try to step out of my comfort zone. I love how it came out.

There was a sheet in the Eek-a-Boo stack that had cut apart cards. I cut the cards and adhered them to the top and bottom of the layout. I tried to not have a lot of white space, but I wanted the cards close together. These pictures really don't do the layout justice. The layout really looks awesome and the Eek-a-Boo papers are so cute!

I also added some journaling at the bottom of the layout. I thought about adding some enamel dots, but decided that the papers would be enough. I think there's enough color, phrases, and journaling for this layout that nothing else is really needed.

Supplies Used:
  • DCWV inc. Eek-a-Boo 6x6 stack
  • Tombow Xtreme Adhesive

*Edited to add: This layout was also my take on The Awesome Ladies Project 1.2 challenge. This challenge was a recipe challenge. The ingredients are: Orange, Two Patterns, Squares, and something sticky. I used orange papers, several patterns, a few squares, and my Tombow Adhesive was the only thing sticky that I used. You can find out more about The Awesome Ladies Project here.

Are you working on any Halloween projects?

Until next time...

Currently List #81

Hello! It's Tuesday and it's time for another Currently List!

Watching: I know that I have said this several times before, but SVU is one of the best shows of all time! If I had enough time, I would watch an entire season every day.

Reading: After having an appointment and several errands today, I am catching up on some blog posts. I'm loving all holiday posts that people are posting. I'm also starting to really like Instagram. I'm loving all of the crafty stuff that people are posting.

Listening: This song will never get old. I listen to it everyday.

Making: I've been making lots of layouts and working on my Project Life album.

Feeling: I've been really stressed lately. I'm hoping that after the next few weeks go by that everything will go back to normal.

Planning: I'm going to make a lot of Christmas cards, tags, and layouts. I may even make a couple of Christmas notebooks as well.

Loving: I've never really been much of a headband fan, but lately I've been using them a lot. They are just so convenient and they feel really comfortable.

Birthday Card and Project Life Birthday Card

Hello! Can you believe that it's November? Halloween is over <insert sad face here>, but that's ok. The holidays are almost here and I am so excited. I have been making so many projects the past few weeks and I think it's due to the changing season. It may sound weird, but I've noticed that during the Fall, I tend to want to make a ton of projects.

I'm trying to use up my Simple Stories Snap Pack so I have been making a lot of birthday themed projects. Today, I want to share another birthday card that I made as well as a Project Life birthday card.

For this card, I used a small journaling card from Simple Stories Birthday Snap Pack. I believe it is either a 2x2 or 3x3 card. I decided to use some foam dots on the journaling card so that it would have dimension. Then I adhered it to the center of my card base. Then I added some die cuts. I used my Tombow Xtreme Adhesive to adhere the die cuts to my card.

This project life card was very simple to make. I just chose a card from the Simple Stories Birthday Snap Pack and a die cut. Then I used some foam dots on the die cut and adhered it to the journaling card. This card would be perfect to use in Project Life, mini album, or I could just make another card using this project life card.

Supplies Used:

  • Simple Stories Snap Pack-Birthday
  • Tombow Xtreme Adhesive
  • Elmer's Foam Dots
Are you making any cards, Project Life cards, or any projects today?

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time...
